Recently purchased a 2013 Blackstone with a 70 gallon water tank, water spewed out of breather tube and inlet upon filling at about 3/4 full.Tried refilling at low low pressure still spewed.Brought it in for service and was told manufacturer did not have connections on top of the tank connected properly, warranty took care of it my problem now is at the 3/4 full mark water spews out of breather hose and cannot add any more.450 lbs of slosh is annoying not sure where to bring it now as the manufacturer is 250 miles away

Although "syphon" is a variant, you are likely to find many more search results using the more standard spelling "siphon"

The fill tank inlet is your typical 1"3/4 where the hose just lay's inside not loose nor tight

So traveling with a half or 3/4 tank of water is ok?I had my hand's full going through some rolling mountain passes with 50 gallons in a 70 gallon tank.I installed a pair of anti-friction sway bar's since and went out once with I believe was about 60 gallons and experienced some sway on the freeway, pulled over and cranked up the tension on them. That seemed to stop it but was pondering the rest of the trip if I really needed to top it off.Dumped all the water on the trip back and the ride was fine.I have as much weight forward as I can but the water tank sits above the rear axle and stretches back where when full should put an additional 640 or so lbs.Next trip will stop at scale station to see where my balance is.

How are you filling your tank? Are you connecting a hose directly to it or using some sort of filler end?

Here's an example of a vented loop

Get one of THESE . I use it to know exactly how much water I need for short trips. Don't want to haul too much or too little water for a weekend boondocker.
RVing since 1995.

Maybe it was the top of the loop, can't remember
Maybe google cyphon breaks, it works!

Roam1 what is a cyphon breaker sp?

I drilled a small hole in the bottom of the top of the loop, if that makes sense, that way when you fill the tank and it goes up and over the loop, when it cyphons, the small hole in the overflow loop will break the cyphon

So when you fill the tank and it fills the overflow hose, a bit will leak out but not much, but when the cyphon starts, the small hole you drilled will break the cyphon

For me the problem is not so much the fill port being on the side of the tank but that the vent port is on the side of the tank. The vent port really needs to be on top. When you fill the tank the vent port eventually gets covered and then the remaining air in the tank gets pressurized as more water comes in until eventually the air starts forcing the water back out the fill and vent tubes. When I fill mine now, I try and get the trailer set of that the vent side of the tank is higher than the other side. I can get alot more water in this way.

Make a loop in the overflow hose that goes 6 inches higher than the top of the tank then back down.
Put a cyphin sp? Breaker in the loop at the top
Now you should be able to fill it to the top

Thank's to all for the quick replies,I agree Pappappy 70 gallons is alot more than we need.We mostly boon dock and 50gallons is more than enough,Tried at first towing with half a tank and had to really tighten the sway bar's to control the sway from all that sloshing. Was told I should always tow with a full tank or empty tank for better handling.Still experimenting that one.As for how level the trailer is at fill up may be key too as the fill tube is on the curb side and is about 2 inches lower than the other side.Definitely will try leveling better and measuring the water flow as well.Thank you all
