Hey All,

I have a 2012 Passport 3220BHWE and was looking at going from a 14 inch tire to a 15 inch tire or 205 75 R14 to a 215 75 R14.

Thoughts? Concerns?

Thanks!

I had a Passport on which I did go from 14 to 15". Worked just fine, and I felt more confident in pulling cross country. Also always carry two spares..one on the trailer and one in the bed of my truck. Traded the trailer, kept the extra spare!

I did: 205/75R14 to a 21575R14 Maxxis M8008 on the same wheels. No issues, no regrets. If 15" wheels/tire fit, go for it.

Mike,
I am buying 4 new aluminum wheels (Les Schwab) this week and if you wan't my old white ones you are welcome to them. Not the prettiest but they clean up good and the only rust is a small amount around the holes which cleans away with a scotch bright.
Just thought I'd put them out there - PM me if you want them. (Free)

Cheers,
Scott

Kumho 857 or Hankook RA08 in size 195R14 is a 8 ply tire, rated to 99 mph is the same deminsions as a ST205-75/14; either is a much better tire than original chinese

X2 on Maxxiss if you go 15 inch. If you go to Les Schawb don't let them talk you into the brand they carry (like what happened to me). Go to Discount tire they might have to order and they are more money per tire but worth it. Yes, they have failures just like other brands, just not as many. Also go with steel valve stems.

But first make sure they will fit. Not only in diameter but also suspension wise, like when you hit a bump. Then have you given any thought to your spare?

On a post here somewhere somebody mentioned you can get Maxxiss from Amazon (to your house) and take tire and wheel somewhere to be mounted.

Personally, I thought 14 inch has more options than 15 inch. Didn't know 14's were also limited.

At any rate don't let Les Schawb tell you Maxxiss has been on back order for 6 months.

Current setup.

I didn't measure yet but it looks like I have room.

Yeah I have Towmax on there now, about two years ago I picked up a nail (exit 38 I -5 near Issaquah) and had a blow out. Took out the two drivers side tires, blew belts into the front tire! They have been good, but I don't go much over 60 and monitor the temps with a infrared thermometer.

So since the blowout, on that side I have had two white steel rims and two aluminum rims on the passenger side. All four tires are the same.

As long as you have room it will be a good move since you'll get a few more pounds of capacity.
I suggest going to Maxxiss tires though because the choices in 15" tires aren't much better than 14's.
