Delivery on new F350

Not sure if anyone can help, but I need to rant.

Ordered a new F350 at the beginning of November, told at the time it could be anywhere from 2-6 months, but should set expectation at 3-4 months. OK. Took off for winter thinking it should be in about the time we return at end of February.

Got notice before Christmas that it was scheduled to build at the end of January, everything seemed to be on track. Then notice it started to build, and then on 15 Feb we recieved notice it was built and just waiting on shipping, expected delivery between 25Feb and 3Mar.

All good to that point.

Now it’s coming up on mid-March and the Ford site still says “Built - waiting to arrange shipping which typically takes a couple days and may be up to a week”. It’s been saying that for coming up on 4 weeks!!

Called the dealership last week to inquire and they said “no idea when it will come, they’ll call me whenever it arrives”.

If it’s really just waiting on shipping it’s kind of frustrating as I believe it’s built in KY and I’m sitting here in TN just waiting…

Good news. My F350 was delivered today with everything exactly as I had specified it, which included nearly everything but the kitchen sink. The only two significant options I didn’t specify were Adaptable Cruise, and Adaptable Steering. I did get bed liner, puck system, trailer camera/tpms, moonroof, upfitters, adaptive wipers, LEDs, etc, etc. Enjoying my new toy!! Good luck to everyone else waiting

OP here. Guess I just needed to complain a little 🙂 I got a call this morning from the dealership and am picking up my 2022 F350 this afternoon; a week over 4 months from when we ordered it.
Back in 2001 when all was normal I waited three months. Four does not seem bad at all. Shipping delay was probably just lack of updating the progress.
Enjoy the new truck! Post a pic or it did not happen 😉

Ford has decided to sell and ship vehicles without the chips that power non-safety features. The automaker will instead send the chips a year later to the dealers for installation after a vehicle is purchased

Think GM started this last year.

As of now, ordering a new Superduty you will have limited options available no matter what trim level you order. Upfitter switches, adaptive steering, adaptive cruise, engine block heater, 5th wheel prep, rapid heat are just some of the options not available to order now. They have even taken them off of the build your own site.

I'll add one more caveat, Ford dealers have access to current restrictions to build, and the list keeps getting longer. Adaptive steering was the first one to show up. I deleted that from my build. Apparently spray liner, 5th wheel pucks, and some others are showing up for retail orders. They are not available at all for dealer stock orders.

Blueovalforums dot com has a 300 page thread on people waiting for superdutys.

MFG are having problem getting parts, and suppliers are having an additional problem getting employees.

Compounded with shipping delays, both overseas and domestic.

I manage prototype product builds at an OEM. It used to be, I could have a box shipped overseas in literally a day. Pulling out all the stops now, an emergency shipment can take a week or longer. Sending stuff to and from Europe without priority, expect 2 weeks for Europe, 4 weeks for China

This isn't a new issue and it's a problem for pretty much all of the brand. I ordered my 2021 F150 on Dec 2nd 2020 and took delivery mid July 2021!

Vehicle shortage issues started way before the trucker protests. I ordered a Ford Transit Van for work over a year ago and still don't know when it will arrive.

The DC truck protest won't help the supply chain crisis, of course, but out of a couple million trucks on the road nationwide, one or two thousand trucks in a convoy in DC aren't going to really affect it much either.

Ben - From what I see, the supply chain was only impacted for a week, and just slowed down some parts. It was minimal, and not the cause of the current issue.

It appears that key components in the supply chain had issues, and created a backlog that is difficult to work through. It appears that vehicle transport - semi-trailer, wedge carrier (3 cars), and railcar have a huge impact on vehicles getting to dealers.

Vehicle transport for some plants has been a long-time issue.
