Hi all..looks like we will be purchasing our first new trailer in the next couple of weeks. Have always been 5th wheel people but now deciding TT fits our needs best! We really like the Jayco 19RD...the posted price was 22650 and they had a "Labor Day" sale that has been extended and appears we can get it for 14966...plus tax and license...seem like a good price? Does to us but it is our first time buying the trailer...Thanks for all your help!

It depends on how clean a deal you are giving the dealer.
Are you going to try and trade in a rig? You state your first time buying a new trailer.
Are you giving the dealer cash or is he going to get financing for you.

There has to be wiggle room in that price because people will want to trade in a rig sometimes and most people want more than the trade in trailer than it is worth because it is usually perfect.

Now if you are not trading and you can pay cash or good check to the dealer then I would offer $500 - $750 less. The dealer must know that it IS NOT contingent on you getting financed, you are not trading anything and you will pay the balance AFTER the rig passes your predelivery inspection

You *could* try looking for a 2013 model. You'll get an even better price. We bought a previous TT ( 20' rear dinette) in late 2011 which was a 2010 model and got an end of the season blowout price, but by the 2012 season, technically it was 2 years old before we even used it. The problem with doing this is that if you go to trade it to a dealer in a year or two, they go by the blue book value based on the year and you lose an extra year's depreciation which can be a BIG hit on the wallet.

Be aware that more often than not, your first TT is never your last. We're on our third in 3 years and we thought our first one was our last... If you think there's any chance you'll find it too small or that you may end up not liking the layout, you might be better off getting a 2015 model if there isn't too much of an additional cost.

Love, love, love the rear picture window! We had the same in our first TT and really miss it a lot. As suggested above, you may not like the bed orientation. The 2 year warranty with Jayco is a big bonus IMO - not many makes have that.

Another thing to think about is that you may find the space between the bathroom and kitchen counter is really tight. We had a similar layout in our first TT and got very tired very quickly of having to squeeze past each other all the time and it was one big reason that it only lasted a year for us. I highly recommend (and others may too) that you get something with a slide in it. That is, unless weight is an issue. There are some shorter TTs out there with slides in them.

I would go look at the TT in person and spend as much time as needed to thoroughly picture yourself moving around inside and thinking about the functionality of all the various things inside you can think of such as TV location, cabinet storage, is the sofa comfortable, the bed layout, etc. Then come back here with any more questions.

We had the Jayco 19RD. Bought it new in 2012. Bought it sight unseen from a dealer we knew. Paid very close to that price. It had several upgrades. thermal package, upgraded couch etc. If we were to do it again we would have bought the 22FB instead. You won't like the bed after a few trips. The 22FB you can walk around on both sides of the bed. Don't think there is much difference in price. I can say that if we bought the Jayco 22FB instead we would still own it. I would at least look at the 22FB before purchase. JMHO

Nice rig, it does appear to be a good deal at $15K. Hope you have many great times in your new TT.

based on my quick calculations it looks like your quoted price is between 30-30% off asking (list?) price.

i've never bought new before, but from what I understand you should pay between 30-40% off list/posted price for the final deal.

then again, most "stealers" know that we know this so I've heard of some padding their posted price to account for this, so I'm sure even at 40% off they are still making a good profit.

Good luck!

I would think you may be able to do better than that. We bought the same camper a few years ago and it was one year old for $10,000. Maybe CA prices are higher than Ohio and I just don't realize it though.

I bought the 28BHS in my sig brand new for $17,500 for a reference at an end of the year clearance.

Edit: searched for about 5 minutes and found this in CA
