Is there no problem dumping grey water on the ground in campgrounds?

My grey water doesn't have food particles or grease. It's only hand soap, or dishwashing soap.

If you are washing dishes in that water, you will be surprised at how much grease & food particles are in that water. Besides that most RV parks do not allow that anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚

You would be surprised. I have seen it happen several times in state parks where someone would open the grey valve and just let it go. I have also seen folks try to be sneaky and hook a garden hose to the end cap and just let it drain under the MH, or into a nearby bush, or under their gray tote (not into it).

Why not just use the campground dumpstation like everyone else?

If this were asked in a tent only forum, everybody wold be saying, "sure, where else would we put it?" But dumping 40 gal at one time in one place could easily be a bit too much. I see it as an issue of concentration.

If you are only washing your hands, I could go a looking time before needing to dump. Please don't do it

I have a 40 gal grey water tank. I can't imagine dumping 40 gals in any of the spots we camp in.

And everyone knows that hippies don't bathe, so I'm guessing that there is almost no grey water at all! ๐Ÿ™‚

If everybody dumped grey water on the ground.... that would be just nasty. Please don't do it.

Dumping grey water on the ground is illegal in most instances and prohibited in all CG's I've visited. You could face a fine if caught. At the very least, grey water usually smells bad, no matter what is or is not in it. IMHO no LEO, EPA officer or court of law is going to be swayed by your rationale.

Depends... We were in a state park in NM and they said grey water on the ground was OK to water the plants. But, the problem would still be that the hose is used for black water also and might have some nasty stuff in it from your last dumping.

While there are remote places where dumping is allowed. For the most part it is illegal to dump grey water at any CG. Without getting into the contents of the water.
It would create a huge mess if every camper were allowed to dump 40 gallons of water on the ground whenever they wanted.
People just aren't that smart. We can barely use the designated dump station without chaos. Dumping grey water is illegal. Do not do it. There can be fine and penalties if caught
