extra water line?

my neighbor just picked up a 1994 AES travel trailer. it's in really good shape, and he is just getting it ready for camping season now. under the couch, there was or is an extra water line that comes of the line that feeds the kitchen. There is no cap on it, there is only one fitting, which is an original like all the others. The hose was just laying on the floor, when the water pump came on, it sprayed out water. City side caused the same effect. anyone ever see an extra water line that has no end before?

it's the same color and material as the other lines. I'll try to get a picture of it tonight. there is no valve on the end of it, and only a fitting on one end that is tied into the run to the kitchen. I first thought it was for winterizing, but then when the water is running, it pours out. I think the next step is to upload a pic...that might help out.

I suspect they had an accumulator tank hooked up and removed it before selling or trading it in. Just a guess!

Is it the same material as all the other lines? Is there a valve at the other end of the line? I'm going out on a limb here because there is no picture, but is it possible it is for winterizing?

Are you sure it is not a low point drain?

My last TT had low point drains with no cap, there was a valve in a closet that shut them off.

I guess anything is possible...just weird that it was just under the couch, no markings, or anything. as soon as the pump comes on, or you turn on city water, it pours out. I'll have him cap it and go from there.

Since it was a used trailer, the previous owner may have had an ice maker, swamp cooler or some other water using device hooked up to the hose. Sounds like it needs to have a valve on it to turn off the flow.

Maybe it was once an outside hose Bib...as long as everything inside has water I would install an exterior water source....
