I'm looking for input from anyone who has the above truck and what size trailer they are towing with it and how they like it along with the MPG when not towing. I cant find them anywhere and heard they are not starting production on them again until 2016.
Payload is 2650
Tow is 11,500
Thanks

Hmm.. that empty mileage is pretty pitiful.. My 2013 F250 XLT Super cab with 6.2 weighs in about 1000 lbs heavier and gets me 15.1-15.3 combo city and highway empty and 10.1-10.5 towing 7K lbs of trailer.. Not to mention my available cargo is 3415 lbs to boot!

To add insult to injury didn't cost as much as a F150 ecoboost with max payload either :B

Sure you do. They are booting the 6.2l because of dismal fuel economy and keeping the ecoboost. That should tell you something right there.

Here is a thread on what folks are towing, however this is with the prior generation of the F150 Max Tow which is heavier by 700 lbs. That 700 lbs is significant.

2011-2014 Max Payload F150: what do you tow?

Good luck,

We just bought a F 150 Platnum EcoBoost w/max trailer tow in Washington drove to California and bought a Arctic Fox 25R dry weight (6340) headed north back to Alaska. No problem's got in the mid 11's GREAT truck.

That's pretty good. I uaslly avarge 13.8 with trips getting close to 15 and towing my Jayco 26bh I'll get 8.5.

But I like the sound my engine makes when I put the skinny pedal down ๐Ÿ™‚

So you have a F250 6.2L as well? Man, I just came through some really bad winds after the storms went through. Towing my Jay Flight 26BH, my mileage went down all the way to 9.5 mpg. I thought that's awful compared to the 10.5 mpg I got on the way there when winds were more mild.

I guess that 9.5 mpg doesn't look to bad now.

The truck in my signature should have the same axle ratio as the HD payload. I formerly pulled a trailer that was almost 33' long, but not much over 6K lbs. It pulled it effortlessly as it does our current TT. The only thing I didn't like was 30 mph crosswinds with the long trailer. A different sway control, such as the Equalizer, might help in that department. Otherwise I love the truck! It normally gets about 9-10 mpg when towing and can be babied empty to get 21 mpg on the highway at 55, but who drives that way? More normal highway mileage is around 18 mpg. 41K mile mpg average is 14.9, which includes about 8K of towing.

We've got a 2011 F150 Supercrew 4x4, short bed, Max Tow and tow a 35' Open Range LT272RLS. We've got an Equalizer hitch and it handles it fine. We've been in the mountains of PA and went up and down just fine.

According to some on here, were a rolling death trap We're not.

evanrem, take everything you read here with a grain of salt. As long as you are within the factory specs., much of how a vehicle handles depends on each individuals driving habits. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Most people report running out of rear axel weight rating before reaching max tow rating. My F150 5.4 does move around with wind and passing traffic. As mentioned look at the F250 if you think you will be towing often.
Also note that it's not just the guys with F250 that are saying look at the Ford Super Duty.

Do realize that if you are going to tow heavy, the new F150 is even lighter than before so it will be pushed around a lot by a big trailer. Also, it's still just a little 3.5L V6 so it doesn't have a whole lot of engine braking when going down hill.

Those 2 things above are what I consider safety issues. If you stick with a trailer small enough that those won't be an issue, you'll do good. However if you try to go heavy and think this is a Super Duty F250 truck, it's not. The 6.7L Diesel will have great engine braking for going down hill and the 7600 lbs weight of the truck will not let it get pushed around as much as a much lighter 5100 lbs 2015+ F150.

If you want a truck for double duty and as a commuter as I do, then just be reasonable on your trailer size.

Also the Max Payload and Max Tow only offer a bit heavier duty hitch receiver over the standard tow package. It won't handle average heavy tongue weights (13%) of 9500 lbs "loaded" campers. Again, you'll need to get a F250 Diesel to get a hitch receiver that will handle the heavier tongue weights of the heavy campers.
