F350 SRW Enough Truck

Hi all. I currently tow a 7k lb TT with an F150 and we’re thinking about upgrading to a fifth wheel. Looking at the Sabre 37FLL - link with specs below.

This is totally new to me and I don’t want a dually or a diesel. So, my question is would a 2021 F350 gas/SRW be enough to tow this camper for 8-10 trips a year mostly within 3 hours of home? It would be extremely rare that we would be in any mountains.

Our TT is currently about 1,000 lbs more than dry weight, so assume we add a bit more than that to the new 5’er. I don’t think we’d get anywhere near the 2900 lb CCC. I’d assume pin weight would be 3k at the most.

My 2020 F-350 SRW is yanking my Redwood which comes in with a camping payload of 3,680#..

It tows, handles, and stops like a dream,

I have the 7230# RAWR... with the 6.7.. I'd want the 6.7 with that size trailer...but that is just my personal preference.

I will be ordering it so I’d assume I can pick from the options below. I will be sure I choose the highest. If that isn’t available with the combo of other options I want, I’ll have to rethink things.

I can’t imagine why anyone would buy an F350 with a gas engine .... my way of thinking is if I need more than a half ton to pull it I’m going diesel, but, yes a F350 SRW 7.3 gas would work for that trailer. You’ll want the 7230 lb rear axle.

Ford in the past has used three different RAWR (7230 lbs...6780 lbs...6340 lbs) for the F350 srw trucks.
Choose the F350 srw with the 7230 RAWR for the most in the bed payload.

Don't be fooled by Fords 4000-4400 lb GVWR based payload stickers on the srw. About the most a 7230 rawr can carry in the bed (hitch weight) is in the 3700-3800 lbs range.

The trailer in the clicky has a 14xxx gvwr/12000 dry weight so its a match if the proper F350 srw is used.

I would presume the full GVWR since you are buying both trailer and truck. There's no reason to buy a marginal setup.

So you likely need 3000-3500 for the pin weight and a 15,000lb tow rating.

There are some combinations of truck that will hit north of 4000lb payload and 15,000lb tow rating which should do the job with a gas engine but make sure you check the specs and get confirmation first as there are some truck combinations that only have 2900lb payload and 12,700lb tow rating.
