Fall Foilage

DW has a 5 day weekend coming up 9/29-10/4 and was wondering ,if anyone in northern NY, VT, NH, and Western Central ME. could tell me if the dry summer is expediting the leave change ? Tentative route would be to zig n zag eastward from Lake George. Any campgrounds/state parks you like would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, K-Mac.

A week makes a difference. Starting to see some colors on the heights as we traversed the state for some meetings. I hear things are also starting to turn up north. Better hurry or it will be all gone!;)

We came from Acadia on Hwy2, through ME, NH, and half way through VT. A couple spotty
colors, nothing to speak of.

Just did 180 miles across NH and VT on I89 today and there is little to no color yet. An occasional swamp maple will have some color but mostly it is still a sea of green across the center of the two states. There may be more color farther north.

I was going to say, dry summers seem to mean less vibrant colors, as well as earlier-than-usual leaf changes. That's been true so far out here.

Greetings from Central NH! Dry conditions aren't helping the leaf change... we have a few oranges starting to appear, but not much else as of yet. Would like to think by the end of the month we'll have some nice colors. Trees are stressed - expect more early leaf drop than usual. Several USFS campgrounds in the White mountain NF of NH - all dry camping - still open until Columbus Day. Check out VT State Parks - Lake George is a little south for most of the ones we visit. ST
