Hi all...my wife and I r going to buy a larger tt in the 7500 pound range. The new ford f150 ecoboost properly equipped is rated at 11300 with the 3.73 limited slip dif.

The f250 superduty w diesel is way overkill and another 20k in cost.

Anybody had experience w the ecoboost....340 pound feet of torque btw...thx.., bo

I'm quite surprised at your statement. What engine did the Yukon have? I had a 2008 Silverado with the 5.3L and it was a whole lot weaker than the EcoBoost.

The Denali had the 6.2 so it was similar to the EcoBoost in both torque and HP. So far it seems as the difference in power isn't going to be an issue. Just need to figure out how to make the F-150 ride as smooth as the Denali, that might be a tall order :B.

The F-250 with a diesel is not way overkill. Humming down the road with no worries is not overkill.

I have been towing with an Eco-Boost in the mountains at Glacier Park. Except for the occasional unusual down shifting pattern of the tow haul mode, I have had excellent results in the mountains.

I also find the manual shifting option handy for the downhill engine breaking.

I'm guessing he had the 6.0 in the Denali?

We just bought a new to us 2013 SuperCrew XLT (9,000 miles) with the Ecoboost. We've literally had it only a few days, did a test outing to a local CG earlier this week and it towed our 6,200 lbs (estimate) travel trailer with no issues. Being a mile high most of the time (pun intended) and sometimes going to 10-11,000 feet I think we will appreciate the turbo vs. naturally aspirated engine.

Our previous TV was 2007 GMC Yukon Denali XL and although so far it seems as the F-150 matches it with towing power, I do miss the smoother ride of the Denali auto-ride. The F-150 seems a bit bouncy, not sure if there are some remedies for that?

So far so good, looking forward to some more extended towing this fall.

Ironic, that's exactly what my TV was before I upgraded to the F150 EB. I was shopping for a nice clean used F250 that wasn't at retail and was unable to find one. They were either beat to******or very clean and a few K off new. I loved my Tundra but it just couldn't handle my 19rr comfortably. It's finally paid off now and so I'm back to where I was before but with a nice truck that can handle pulling 8K with ease (and stop it too). I'm hoping to get 10 years out of it. Time will tell how the EB holds up after 5 or 6 years but I have high hopes.

One size does not fit all. I have a 2012 F150 EB SCREW with te 5.5 ft bed, Max Tow package (3.73 Rear End, trailer mirrors) and tow my trailer no problem. I come in under payload even FULLY loaded bed with DW and 2 boys (and me of course) in the cab. Trailer weighs in at about 8,400 loaded. I've towed it up hills, down hills, through 25-30 MPH winds, all with no problem. I won't address the 1/2 vs 3/4 argument that seems to always go on, I will only say that my EcoBoost works perfect for me and I wouldn't trade it for a 3/4 ton because I have no use for a 3/4 ton.

2013 Ecoboost XLT loaded pulling a Jayco Whitehawk 28DSBH. We traveled from Central MN to the Black Hills this June and LOVED the truck. We had plenty of power and when semi trucks tried to pass on hills they always dropped back and we held our speed. The torque is amazing. The only thing I wish ours had was folding mirrors. But I was too thrifty to go with the Lariat. Amazing truck for just over $32,000.

Im in the middle of a weekend test drive of a 2012 EB max tow SCRW Cab. I will sign the papers on Monday if all goes well. Heading out to test tow my TT in a minute. Looks like your trailer is nearly identical in dry and tongue weight to mine that gives me hope. Im lucky to have a brother in law who owns a car lot so I can do this. I will report back when I finish. The road that my tt is stored on has a deep vally that drops to a river then climbs sharply back up that should be a nice test as I know how my avalanche performs there.

Now unloaded this truck will put a smile on anyones face the acceleration from a dead stop is amazing. Going to be hard to keep the tread on rear tires!

Not sure if it has changed since 2012 (which I have) but my book says not to tow for the first 1K miles. FWIW

It has 60K on it. Runs fantastic.
