Ford rims: srw VS drw

Quick question. Bought 4 new rims and snow tires (18") last fall for our then '15 F350 srw. Traded that truck in for the '17 drw w/ 17" tires. Will the rims/tires for the '15 fit the '17 if I singled them out for the winter? Or is the bolt pattern offset off just enough that they won't?

ACZL, just noticed you snowmachine, so presumably your wanting to tow in the winter.

Noting to be skeered of with the dually as long as you get off the internet and quit reading theoretical horror stories!

BUT, whatever factory junk tires are on the new truck, you can be rest assured they're about the worst snow tires made!
Just do the normal thing, get some good AT tires, adjust pressure according to load and road conditions and drive it.

I know a SRW will work best for snow/ice, but the OPs DRW is 4x4, so should be use able most of the time. If extreme conditions, just leave it parked, or chain it up in an emergency. IMO, just not worth swapping all the wheels back/forth, rechecking torque on the lug nuts often, even if they will fit.

No, you can't do it.

The newer Ford duallies (2011+ I think) went to an 8x200 DRW bolt pattern vs 8x170 for the SRW trucks. Up front l, you can pull the adapter and the base studs are also 8x170 but you'd be SOL in the back.

Or this? Ferd actually changed bolt patterns between srw and drw? Wth is wrong with them? Sounds like their abomination of small block engine components and firing orders on the old W,C and M engines.....
Well, if you could swap, think of my previous post.

If I understand he wants to remove his 6 tires/wheels on the DRW and install the 4 tires/wheels from the SRW for the winter. As long as nothing rubs what is the problem???

Other than a new $60k truck looking like a clown show? Nothing at all.
If you are being budget minded and want better snow performance, get the tires (OE pavement pounders I presume) siped and run as low of air pressure as you can get away with, empty. Siped tires, 20-25psi in the rear and whatever you the tires will hold in the front. Worst case of the tires are still too squirrelly in back, ditch the inside tire to get more ground pressure without it looking like a freak show.

He lives in upstate NY. I believe he is banking on the single tire system giving him better snow, ice traction in winter. From what Iโ€™ve read, it would make for a more snow friendly ride over a DRW pickup.

You would have to take off the front spacers, then the SRW tire should run in near the proper place. The back should put the tire about in the center of where the duels would be. The tires wont run in the same tracks.

Thanks. Good advice and will look into at as I have to stop at tire shop later today.

As for a 2nd vehicle/truck.........well the tree in the backyard is kinda empty right now so it's not in the cards.

Okay guys, maybe it's just me! I personally would not take a near new DRW truck, and change all the wheels, just to make it more winter worthy. If the snow/ice gets to be too much for the DRW, I'd just leave it parked. I've owned new trucks/cars most of my adult life. If I needed a second truck, or Winter car, I just bought one, to be sold when I was done with it.

I know Cummins has more than one truck, that could be used for Winter, rather than mess with his DRW.

I'd sell the 18" tires/wheels, should be lots of interested buyers.

Around here there is no shortage of vehicles that have a dedicated winter wheel/tire combos. If you have never driven with a dedicated winter tire you may be surprised.

That's exactly what I want to do, but am unsure if the rims from the srw tires will fit/work on the drw. I don't care how it looks for the winter, but just hate the thought of having to get new rims/tires when the time comes for the drw for winter use. Otherwise, will have to sell the rims/tires I got last year and may have a party interested if I do. Would rather keep/use them myself if they'd all work.
