Ford suspension

I'm researching new tow vehicles (Chevy and Ford), I currently tow with a 2001 Silverado 3500 DRW, 6.0l with a 4l80e. My trailer has a pin weight of 2140 with a trailer weight of 10,460, this is loaded for a two week trip including 1/3 full water tank. I'm not concerned about towing, I'm concerned about the sag or squatting I hear about in the Fords. I'm concidering a Ford F-350 or a Chevy 3500 both DRW. I don't want to drop $50-60k and have to upgrade the suspension. I would like to hear from Ford guys about their experience. Thank you!

Why not get a new 2015 Ram DRW with air suspension, problem solved!

X2! And you will have one of the best diesels offered in a pickup!

Maybe he doesn't want or like the Ram? Sorry Ram lovers but the vast majority of people buying new trucks don't buy Ram.

Only 22% (Mar #s) of the new full size truck sales (3 Domestic) were Rams. That's only 1 in 5 people.

Let's see the HD numbers and especially the Dually 350/3500's that really are TRUCKS!

Hey great idea! That is with well over 5K pin.

When this is sitting on the back with even more pin the truck will still sit exactly the same!

Lets keep this thread on track. It is not about the multiple insolvencies of Chrysler but the Ford spring pack...Or maybe there is a correlation. Are Ford springs as soft as Chrysler's financials? ๐Ÿ™‚

My Ford Super Cab had a flat load floor when I flipped up the seats and I kept a kennel behind the front seats. My current Ram Crew Cab has storage under the seats that makes the floor uneven with the seat flipped up (some trim models have a storage area cover making a taller load floor) - I now have the kennel riding higher up on the seat instead of the floor.

I suggest you look at a few different truck cabs since there is also a variation between the extended and crew cabs. Some are optioned with additional audio gear or storage under the seats which may not work for you.

Again, let me say that I appreciate all the replies and information! Been following along closely and have come to the following conclusion. Both Ford and Chevy will do the job with no issues or concerns about the suspension. Next I have to make sure that there is sufficient space for my 150 pound dog. I took out the rear seats of the current truck so he can travel comfortably. Thanks all!

Just giving him an extra choice as he is not aware of how much better the Rams are!

This is very much on topic, as the OP wanted to know about adding air bags to the 2 brands he was interested in. A few of us were letting him know that Ram offeres air suspension from the factory. This is just some info for him to read. He is a big boy and can take all this info in if he desires or he can ignore it......which is what you should be doing!

No, you are not giving him an extra choice. You are giving him your OPINION which he has stated multiple times that he does not want it. Yes, he is a big boy and he told you NO RAMS TWICE, now you should be a big boy and accept that. Obviously you do not have your big boy pants on today because you accept that fact and move on.

My apoliges to the OP!
I started the Ram comment as it had just what he wanted an adjustable supession to get rid of sag. The 2015 Ram has air supession, he didn't state until later he wasn't interested in a Ram.

Because, it being an open forum we are entitled to help the guy out and ask questions! And then it came out that he heard that the Rams were not as good. Some of us are just trying to let him know that things have changed in the last 20 years.

That's what this forum is here for, helping out fellow RV'ers!

He did not ask for your help in trying to sell him on Ram. In fact he said that he was not a fan of Ram/Dodges. Respect that and move on. Someday you will have to learn that not everyone is the same and not everyone will like the same things you do.

Now stay on topic and respect the OP's choice of not wanting a Ram. This is coming from a man that owns a Ram too.
