FOUND OUR NEW TT

We found what we think is a great deal on our first TT. No more tent camping for us. We went to Ohio and viewed the model we decided on (Keystone Passport 2920BH) but they didn't have the interior. We almost settled. No way! Not for our first purchase...or any purchase. So we came home to IN and researched more. Found it...sort of. It's still on the factory line but not only do we get the model we want but we get an upgraded A/C unit (15K). They're throwing in some extras also (filled tank, hose, elec cord, starter pack, wheel cover or chock). The kicker: same price as we found before (21K).

DW is excited. Now we're just holding our breaths that all works out good. We pick up in 2 wks. We put a deposit down to hold it.

I'm glad I found this site. Will be viewing often for more info and knowledge.

Q: (& I might find it on this site) What is good rv club/group to join for good rates on camping outside of SP & FP?

Thanks dadof6. I've only got two kids, and we are short, so there are a lot of things that I don't really have to worry too much about. It's so hard to decide which route to go with every brand offering a similar floorplan. I am liking the front quad bunk floorplans like the Shadow Cruiser 312FB or the Passport Elite 32FB, since my kids are still small and it gives my wife and I more bedroom space.

tomkaren13: Thank you. I have read many posts on here recommending the same thing. I intend to upgrade immediately. Thanks for the advice.

mpang14: Really it came down to us traveling to the RV dealership in OH and loading the kids up in each one. Holman RV did a great job trying to earn our business. I will defintely look at them in the future. The had a Passport and Kodiak lined up for us and brought a Shadow Cruiser from across the lot so we didn't have to walk far. Once the kiddos got in and walked around and laid down on the beds/foldouts it was clear the Passport was the one. My oldest son is 6'3" and he had more head room standing, more room lying down, and in the shower of the Passport than any of the other 2 models. Storage met our needs. The quad bunks was ideal for the kiddos. DW loved the outside kitchen and interior. Hope that helps answer your question. Bottom line: family input.

DutchmanSport: We went with a family owned business in MI - LaksShore RV. Talk about a group that knows customer service. I did a walk around with CW but they didn't have what we were looking for and a Tom Raper rep hung up when he didn't think I was going to buy from them. I spoke with a guy from WR at the RV expo in Jan - he was nice & no real reason not to go with them. LS RV is a family owned business also and I really like doing business with folks like that.

modern family: We didn't find it. Our dealer did. He did some calling around and called me back with the info. We put a deposit down to hold it. Once he received the shipping doc it DID NOT have the 15k A/C. They're switching it out with a 15K A/C at no cost since we had already agreed on terms. Now that's customer service to me!

Hi dadof6, could you tell me your reasons for going with this over the Shadow Cruiser you were looking at?

I think anyone can get a "custom trailer" from any mfg, as long as you're leaving a deposit. Talk to the dealership to see what can be done.

How did you find it on a factory line? You called a dealer that was getting it in and they added the extras for you? Just curious, just in case this comes up for me next year during my search for a new TT

Don't know about the OP - but that's what happened for us. They had ordered it for their own stock, but we put down a deposit and turned it into a custom order while it was still on the line.

Congrats on your new TT. Looks like a great choice. Nice light weight too.

You might want to think about buying a Power tongue jack. Nice that the dealer gives you a starter package. But you will probabaly want to upgrade the sewer hose.

Since this forum is owned and funded by Good Sam you may want to start there.

The Good Sam Club has discounts on camping but so much more. Attend your state Samborees, join a local chapter, and make new like minded friends.

I see Indiana has a spring and a fall Samboree in Howard county and Miami county.

Congratulations! We did much the same thing when we bought ours. Turned a dealer stock order into a purchase order for us, which let us customize exactly what we wanted (decor, windows, AC, jacks, etc...) but made the time from order to delivery a couple of weeks instead of a couple of months. Worked out beautifully for us. Hope it does the same for you. Enjoy!

21k seems like a good price on that camper. Congratulations. I'm glad you kept at it and found the right unit for your family. For the small amount it costs extra as a manufacturer upgrade, it's crazy not to get the 15k air conditioner in this size camper. Have fun.
