Found used 2013 Rockwood roo 21ss. Right price?

Just found a 21ss at a dealer not far from here. Is there a Nada price guide for these? He is asking 15,995 plus 300 for the extended 1 year warranty. Do you guys think that is a good price? It's a used one. Someone had it for 6 months.

I've been a member of Hybrid forums for over 9 years and currently belong to 6 different Hybrid forums and can say that your statement is untrue.

Based on your other forum posts, you're also against Dodge trucks,LT tires, Coachmen popups and Roo's.

We're on our second one (Travelstar and Palomino) and absolutely no complaints.
I have a Dodge Ram and love it. If anything happen to it, I would get another one.:C

bbq-breath supposedly has some friends that didn't like owning a hybrid.
so apparently he feels he can make the statement that "most people" get rid of their hybrid in a couple of years, based on these few friends.:R

no explanation why his friends didn't like them. could be that they weren't familiar with hybrids or got leaks because they didn't properly store the canvas or had condensation and blamed it on leaks.
or they didn't research hybrids enough and got tired of noise, canvas wet from rain or not knowing how to deal with temps.:S

I agree with dadmomh 100%. It was purely a convenience issue due to the aging process (mine) that entered into our decision to go from our Roo 23SS of 5 years to a TT. Fridge/dinette/slide configuration is the same in our new TT as it was in the 23SS. But I had absolutely ZERO problems with my Roo during our ownership.

Now, back to the OP..... You should be able to get something straight out and brand new (never registered) for close to $18K (no trade) if the dealer really wants to make a sale. Some dealers are more willing than others. I just checked the dealer I bought our Flagstaff from and they sell Jayco Jay Feathers. They have some 2014 23's for around $20K. My experience with them... show them cash and the price drops considerably.

Totally disagree that "most folks" only keep a HTT for a couple of years. We had ours starting our 8th season and only changed to a TT because of age/health issues....otherwise it would still be right here in the ROOport. To be happy with a HTT, you need to LOVE sleeping under canvas, not mind the small amount of extra set up, have provisions to allow for set up at home or other to totally dry the bunkends if you have to close up in wet weather. Leaks are far less of an issue than years ago, not to say that it can't happen, but much less of a chance. You can also have leaks with a TT, a C, a multi-dollar A. Any RV has the potential to have leaks....just the nature of the beast.

Obviously you haven't been on this forum too long because all of the Roo owners that I have seen here were very happy with them. I have a StarCraft with a similar layout and entering my 9th season and changed tow vehicles twice since. If and when I upgrade, I'll go to a 5th wheel. Maintenance is maintenance on any trailer. A skylight on a TT can leak just as much as a Skylight on a HTT. My maintenance has been relatively low. This year I am expecting to replace the brakes but that could be the same on a TT, maybe more so because the TT is heavier.

I also have ill feelings for flan! I have had several friends with Roo's that had front end leaks and various other issues. They each got out of them within a couple of years.

We're starting our 8th season with our HTT and have no plans to change anytime soon. The only small leak I had was not at all related to the tent end/bunk door. I'm just saying....

That looks like a good price but would definitely not jump into it right away. It is late but there are still RV shows around and shop for the RV show price too. I have a Starcraft which is a similar floor plan to the 21ss Roo and the slide with the dinette and sofa works the best for me because it just opens things up. If you need that extra bed like the 21 dk, I would consider the air mattress Hide a bed option listed on Forest River's website.

If your picking up the trailer in person I think www.wanarv.com had actually a better equipped 21ss Roo in stock with equivalent pricing to RVW. If you need delivery they will do that as well for a fee. I believe my friend got the last 14 21ss from RVW. Tried very hard to go local but the dealers were not willing to budge. They saved $thousands.

Other than a mini-bath tub the 21DK offers me nothing. 🙂 The 21DK lacks a sofa meaning that there is nowhere to sit on those rainy or buggy evenings other than the bed or everyone jammed together on the dinette. I have no idea why there's a television in the galley nor how anyone will view it from wherever they find a place to sit.

Starting our 10th season with the Roo 23SS and haven't found a floor plan yet that we like better. The 23IKSS looks great when parked but the bathroom is inaccessible unless you run a slide out. We use ours on the road all the time.
