Fresh Water Drains Freezing Concern

I have a 2013 29' Komfort TT with 4 season package. It has higher R-Values in the walls, ceiling and floor than standard. The tanks are insulated and covered beneath.

But the fresh water drain with a cap and the low spot hot/cold water line drains with caps, extend below the floor covering and insulated area.

In freezing temperatures I'd expect these to freeze - possibly enough to break a cap or hose and cause leaks.

Does anybody have specific experience with this sort of set up and/or solutions?

Thanks for the help. I have felt similar to many; if they freeze, probably won't be a big deal, unless you get caught in well below zero and who wants to be traveling in THAT kind of weather! I appreciate the "freeze but don't break" concept. That's probably what I'll go with. I'll winterize unless using, but when using I'll look for temps no lower than mid 20'sF at worst, and well above 32F at best! 🙂 An isolated overnight freeze shouldn't pose a problem, and I'll winterize before returning to the north country on a given trip.

It all reminds me of last winter when we escaped Alaska in early December. The soft plastic windows of our pop-up camper on the truck didn't crack on camp break-down until below -20F, and then only two of them, but - that's a whole 'nuther story!

I dont know what mine are made of, but the valves are outside and as i've said they freeze and dont break. I would check to see what the plumbing is made of. We use our TT all winter long.

If you can get access to these low point drains inside, install valves. That way when after you winterize you close the valves and open the outside drain caps to allow any excess to escape and then close the outside drain

My low point drains freeze every winter and have never broken.

If you are camping in this full time just wrap those areas with heat tape and plug it in...

If you are not camping drain the tanks...
