This is early cnsideration, toss by you know-it-alls for advice.

So that I can tow a boat, I want to mount my dual sport on the front. Either a new receiver mount or modify the tow hooks for a two-point platform. I'd carry about 450-ish pounds including a hitch, and situate it so headlights shine through or rig up an alternative.

Has anyone done this? Is it legal? I'm just starting to set up an F350DRW (from a SRW).

It's legal as long as your lights aren't blocked. You can mount aux headlights on the carrier. KC makes 7" round housing DOT headlights with stud mounts that can mount on anything.
