Front hitch carrier for spare tire

Hi,

We are adding a second fuel tank so the spare needs to move to the front. Some time ago, I read a short thread about the front mounted hitches folks liked best. I can't find it now. Can anyone help with finding it or with suggestions for suitable products - front hitch mount, tire mount and cover. Is anything else necessary? Truck is an f350 DRW. Thank you!

Most boat spare tire brackets are U bolted to channel or tube steel frame. They are about the size of a coffee cup saucer. I would think any piece of tube steel you mounted to your hitch would be suitable. You might even look at some of the hitch mounted bike racks so it could also carry a couple of bikes if you wished.

rn to use google:

several front hitch's

Just curious? Why do you need another fuel tank?

My truck holds a little over 30 gallons of diesel... that takes me 450 miles. There is no where in north America that you can't find diesel or gasoline well within a half tank.

Every 100 pounds extra weight uses 1% of your fuel economy... a 1000 pounds cuts your economy by 10%. If you are getting 15 mpg and add an extra 1000 pounds you your trucks mpg will drop to 13.5 mpg.

How much will the additional fuel and the weight of the extra tank weigh?

I have found that the one limiting factor for remote truck camper use is potable water... drinking and cooking uses a lot of water over time... hauling water still costs your mpg... but at least you'll be using it up from the first day... the fuel in the second tank may never be used.

I added a front hitch to my Envoy to use my bike rack while towing. Bought it from RealTruck.com for 200 taxes and delivery included. The hitch is a Curt, took less than an hour to install and didn't have to remove a thing. I'm very pleased with it.

I put a Draw Tite on my F-250, pretty easy install, have to remove the bumper to install and it uses the space the fog lights inhabit stock so they have to be relocated or (as in my case) relegated to a corner of the garage.

I use it for a removable front mounted winch for dragging logs for firewood, seems to be quite robust.
