GMC Sierra 3500 diesel dually MPG

I’m thinking about buying a truck and a 20k 5er, and wanted to get an idea of mpg.

If I’m traveling on the highways at 65 mph, do you have an idea on the mpg I might get. I’m hoping others have a similar setup, and might be able to share their experiences.

Thanks in advance

We towed our 16K trailer with a 15 GMC Dually Denali for 3 1/2 years. We rarely averaged under 10 but never more than 11. We did several 5 to 6K mile trips with it so that was under all kinds of conditions.

On our first trip with our new truck we avg 11 mpg overall, towing we were getting 9 to 11 mpg.

I get from 8 to 11 towing 17k 5ER with 2014 GMC DMAX dually crew cab at 65 mph.

If you are worried about fuel milage towing a 20K 5th wheel you might want to reconsider.

I’m goimg to say less than 10 pullimg a 20k lb 5er. Also if a newer emissions equipped model there seems to be a lot more variation in MPG from truck to truck even of the same brand.

Touching on 12 if soft footed, but agree that you can count on 10 and be in the ballpark. With some mild breathing mod's and tow chip, I get 23 empty, honest and on plus side, again, soft footed. 2008 3500 Dodge dually.
2008 Ram dually, mildly tuned and some breathing mods. 2008 Grand Junction, two cats and go.
