Could you sear it on the drip plate then put the grid on and finish it (steak)?

We have a Holland and love it for it's versatility. We take 9x13 casseroles, frozen. We let them thaw as we travel. As soon as we get where we are going. The first thing we do is light the Holland and when it is hot, in goes the casserole, while we finish setting up camp. We do everything from lasagna to stuffing casseroles.

We like the burgers and steaks because we can get them done, and yet they are still juicy. Pizza turns out great. We do breakfast, including bacon and biscuits on the grill. You can put a pie on while you eat your dinner and have a nice evening dessert.

Trick is, it is all about cooking time, not heat. No peeking. If you are looking you are not cooking.

On high it gets up to about 425.

dudg is correct. Will not flareup with provided regulator but also does not cook hot enough. I went to a regulator with a higher btu output. Great little grill.

Can't comment on the Companion Grill... but I just gave my Road Trip grill away and was happy happy happy to do so.

Big ole bulky in the way thing.

Thanks!

Holland is a nice well built grill. Only issue I have with any of the Holland grills big or small is they don't put out alot of heat. This is fine for chicken and what not but terrible for searing a steak. I think they like to run in the 375-400 deg. range. Hope this helps.
