I have an older coachman camper,31' im pretty sure i have a ground problem as my trailer lights do not work. But im not sure where it grounds because the wiring harness goes up the front wall. Any body have any ideas, i think its s coachman crown deluxe about a 78 model.

Should use electrical grease (de-oxidation) between the lug, bolt, frame and nut. Use a star washer between nut and frame.
This is of course after cleaning frame to bare metal on both sides. Do not use tapped hole in frame or self tapping bolt/screw.
You can use the same electrical grease on the ground mounting screw in the lights.

I would add; spray the connection with corrosion proofing when done.

what year...?

I have a 2005 Coachmen Cascade.... NON metal skin..

on mine.. 3 ground points at lower front..
1 near the slide motor
2 under the area of fuse panel..

all bolted to the FRAME... remove / clean / sand/ install star washers/ reinstall

I know as I just did all of mine 3 weeks ago.

also check the mini circuit breakers bolted to the frame near the front grounds.
my 50 amp mini breaker had resistance...

Enblethen is correct in that the outside metal skin is used a ground wire. We had 1984 Travelaire 5er and it was the same way. Every spring I had the job of tightening every screw. Sometimes I had to get creative and had to build up the screw hole, change screw sizes and add wire.

Older rigs that used metal siding used the skin as the ground return path for the exterior lights.

Are you having problems with the outside 12v lights, or the interior 12v lights? If outside ones, could be in the plug that hooks to tow vehicle, start there -- find the one that is the ground wire and start the check to all the outer wires and see if you are getting current flow thru any of them.
My feet are fine as long as they are traveling.
