Heki 2 skylight speed limitation.

OK, here is one for you. I needed to know the cutout size for my Heki 2 skylight, so I Googled “Heki 2 installation instructions”. I found a pdf file that has “Dometic Seitz GmbH” and both the Dometic and Seitz logos on the top of the first page.

On this first page there is an image of a skylight assembly followed by text. The first two items of text that follow this assembly image are:

“1) Designed and recommended for trailed vehicles in which people do not travel. Technically also suited to a vehicle in which people do travel, but as the rooflight is designed with free airflow, there may be draughts, air noise and chattering blind mechanisms, which will not be accepted as a product fault.

2) HEKI 2 suitable for max. 100 km/h (with Seitz spoiler up to 130 kmh).”

I do not know what they mean with the term “designed with free airflow”. 100 km/h equals about 62 mph and 130 km/h equals about 81 mph. I am sitting here with my jaw open. I mean, how could a product marketed to be used at highway speeds have these published not to exceed / max speed limitations? Go figure. Any thoughts / comments?

Your tyres have similar limitations and many used on larger RVs would have a lower limit than 130kmph

Come to think of it, most drivers have limits far lower than those simply because of deficiencies in skills or concentration.

And then there is mechanical condition of vehicles not subject to annual safety inspections

I can't remember if we have ever done any ROAD traveling with our ROOF VENT opened up. We always close our ROOF VENT when in travel mode???

I read your same installation instruction PDF but don't know if they are speaking with the VENT opened or closed with those comments.... I noticed they did speak of the correct way to install the vent opening...
HEKI 2 SKYLIGHT

Our vent used here is the 14 inch by 14 inch FANTASTIC VENT...
