Help me find a travel trailer (or toy hauler?)

Hi all. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

My wife and I are finally ready to jump into the world of travel trailer/toy hauler ownership. We have rented RVs of all sizes from Cruise America over the past few years in attempts to understand what we like, don't like and what'd we do differently when the time comes to own. Well, that time has come 🙂

We have a good grasp of several aspects, however there are a few details I need help with as I start the search. Specifically:
1) I am 6'9" tall. I DO NOT want to stoop or hunch over all the time in the trailer. I don't mind areas of lower height, but I need some part of it taller than I, allowing me to stand straight.
2) A "King" sized bed is pretty much a must. I'd like to minimize how much hanging off the end my feet can do.
3) Its got to have an enclosed toilet; happy wife = happy life. No shower/tub required.
4) My truck can pull 6k lbs, max. Something lighter than that? And/or how might I modify my truck (a Ford F150 Raptor) to allow me to pull more?

Everything else we can work with, but those 4 are a must. Am I dreaming? Anything like that exist? Where to look?

Thanks again everyone.

1) spend time at RV shows and dealers finding the RV you are comfortable with

2) even many queen size beds are really a lie. The are shorter than a standard queen. Again, look in many RVs.

3) easy one, most have a dry bath, some smaller ones have a wet bath, some even smaller ones are without facilities

4) modify the truck all you want, it does not change the tow rating. An easy way to compare is to look at the GVWR of the RV. You will need to get one 6,500 or less and then travel very light.

I really doubt you will have very many options with your needs. King size beds are in big, heavy RVs, not in lightweight ones.

The Raptor has too soft suspension IMHO as a comfortable RV tow vehicle.

Toy haulers do often have higher ceilings. There are some TTs with 80" and 84" interior height. But I don't think the suspension will make for a comfortable towing experience.

Sounds like you described an Outback Terrain in your wish list....

They have a few different models. They have king bed rear slides, and barreled ceilings that are 7' tall. The showers have a domed skylight in them too. I know at 6'1" I have alot of room over my head in the shower... You may never really find a shower that fits in an RV at 6'9", but the Outback Terrains are better than most.

They even have a toy hauler model. 230TRS, it weighs in at 5K dry.

Check them out. Most of them weight near 6k, but they have lighter models too. I'm not sure what the limiting factor is for the Raptor for tow capacity, suspension I assume.

Another brand to consider, Aerolite. Many of them weight under 5k# and have king beds.

Pretty much dreaming. Your best bet for height would be a fifth wheel. Downside there are not many fivers your current can safely handle and still have most of your wants. Typical TT has inside head room of around 6'2". Most fivers have around 7-8 foot head room in the living room. It is just the nature of the beast and not much you can do about it unless you had a custom made trailer built.
