Due to an accident in December, we are now looking for a new trailer, though we have found one we love, however, the hitch is the problem. ProPride is very expensive but does answer the sway control problem. However, Andersen Hitches seems to be the same answer but cheaper only $500 instead of $2700. What is your advice?:@

The main advantage of the Andersen hitch is it's light weight, much less than any other system on the market. Many who own one generally report it works well, especially with smaller, lighter weight trailers. I've never owned one myself but did own an Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Hitch and other being noisy in operation it worked really well, with almost all owners highly recommending it. Regardless, if you plan to continue using your Xterra as a tow vehicle you'd want to be awfully cautious about the size of trailer you plan to tow with it. As others have mentioned no weight distribution hitch can make up for an inadequate tow vehicle.

Perhaps drop a couple grand on a hitch. Then you can use it in your forum signature for ooosies and ahhhsies.

Have you actually ever owned or used an Andersen No Sway Hitch?

(By the way, it is spelled Andersen)

They are great hitches in some applications. Adequate tow vehicle being the first one.

As a Andersen hitch user, I can verify that they are not the equivalent of a Hensley or Propride. I can also assure you that none of the three will make up for an inadequate tow vehicle.

If your looking at a new trailer to safely tow behind your Xterra, you may be limited in terms of length and weight. If I recall, you're limited to about 1,000 lbs of payload. Be careful with your selection. A premium weight distribution hitch like a Hensley or Propride will only do so much. They weigh nearly 200 lbs and take away that much from your payload. Even a mid grade hitch like an equalizer or Blue Ox weight in close to 100 lbs. IMO, Xterra's weren't built for pulling anything longer than 20 feet or 4000 lbs.
