How to keep water out of my outdoor kitchen

I have a TT with an outdoor kitchen ......which is awesome!..... However, I need to find a way to keep the rain water out.

The outdoor kitchen has a huge door that swings up to open using a strut bar on both sides and a continuous hinge that connect it to the camper.

The issue is that the continuous hinge is not weather tight and the rain water rolling down the door then pours through the hinge and all over the kitchen counter.

Has anyone had this issue and if so have you come up with a way to resolve it?

My first thought is to create some sort of a gutter system that I can lay over the hinge when the door is open...... any thoughts on what to use for this?

Thank you and I look forward to brain storming with you.

Thanks,

Mike

This is EXACTLY what i had in mind! Thank you!!!!

My first one had a gutter, the current once does not. I used silicone on the hidge which works for a quick storm but for a rainy week or weekend I put up a tarp similar to above using Velcro to attach it.

You can also add an extension to your awning to cover whole kitchen so as not to worry about rain ...it works great also.

Mine does this too when it's opened in the rain. My solution.....I close it. It's not big enough to stay dry under anyways.

J channel would work but I'd be concerned drilling into the side walls to attach it. Hard to find anything solid to screw into.

j channel

This is installed (from factory) over my OK door. It is basically the same gutter as over my slides and is equipped with gutter extensions on each end so water drains away from the sidewalls.

Would you make a permanent connection to the camper right above the hinge?

They have aluminum "J" channel. I would mount it above the door.
