I wonder if the Ford frame issue will affect the HD's?

It seems the lack of frames is becoming a major issue at Ford. Could this impact on the new HD F250/350's which will have similar alloy frames?

Definitely hurting F150 sales, how about to be released HD's?

DailyTech - Fordโ€™s Use of Aluminum Bodies to Extend to Super Duty Trucks, Chrysler Doubles Ram EcoDiesel Production

Earlier this year Ford unveiled the 2015 F-150 that makes extensive use of aluminum for the body structure in an effort to reduce weight (and improve fuel economy). In fact, 95 percent of the F-150โ€™s body structure is comprised of aluminum alloys.

An apples-to-apples comparison of 2014 F-150 Lariat Crewcab 4x4 and a 2015 Lariat Crewcab 4x4 showed that the latter tipped the scales at 4,942 pounds โ€” 732 pounds less than its predecessor.

Ford is looking to take the lessons learned from the development of the half-ton F-150 and apply them to the next generation of rugged Super Duty pickups. Ford exec Raj Nair confirmed on Monday at the company's investor conference that the next generation Super Duty will switch to an aluminum body.

No they are not welcomed, and it is not an agenda it is happening now with the F150, , so others think that there could be a problem

This post is for my Ram friends.

Ram use that very same "twisty" C-channel frame in their 3500/4500/5500 cab and chassis models to make up-fitting easier. They use fully boxed in their pickup models which is more rigid(less flex) than C-channel frames. A frames rigidness should not be confused with its strength. It is just an inherent property of C-channel frames that they flex more than fully boxed frames, but fully boxed frames are a PITA to up-fit a flat bed or utility without cutting into it which would weaken the frame. This is why Ford uses C-channel frame sections in the bed sections of all their Super Duty truck to please their fleet buyers and up-fitters.

Edit - nevermind. Misread the post.

If they are not available in inventory, makes it tough to sell

DETROIT -- Production of the redesigned, aluminum-bodied Ford F-150 has been slowed by a shortage of frames from a supplierโ€™s plant in Kentucky, according to workers and a UAW official.

They said Ford has canceled some planned overtime at the two plants that build the pickup and sent workers there home early multiple times in the past few months.

โ€œDemand for our F-150 is sky high. Frames continue to hold both truck plants back from running overtime days on the weekend,โ€ Todd Hillyard, the bargaining chairman of Fordโ€™s Kansas City Assembly Plant with UAW Local 249, wrote on Facebook today.

I think I will subscribe to this thread and ressurect it in the future (when the sales numbers completely flip, and they will) to show just how stupid some of these comments are.
