Please share what you do/did to prevent theft.

I'm not aware that there's is a hitch lock and I am looking for ideas to secure both my TT from theft as well as the hitch itself from being stolen.

In fact right after I got the Hensley back in 2002, a guy a few streets over that also owned a TT asked me if the HA was some kind of anti-theft device for the trailer!

I just lock my Hensley with a normal combination lock on the coupler. I suppose you could wrap a chain through the tongue and through the some part of the hitch but that seems like a lot of trouble and is most likely not needed. I also keep a cover on the Hensley.

As far as the trailer itself, unless someone has a spare stinger lying around, it would be almost impossible to hook up and tow the trailer away with the hitch still on it. A thief would have to cut the coupler lock off, disconnect all the various parts of the hitch and remove the hitch before they could tow the trailer. I think most thiefs would not want to spend that much time or effort and would move on to easier pickings instead.

With a Hensley, you can also leave the stinger in it, engage the over center latches, and then slip a padlock in instead of a pin. I leave a padlock on my coupler, and a grill cover over the entire assembly.

I imagine most people trying to steal would be after the scrap value as opposed to selling it as a whole. It's quite a chunk of steel.

I have a Hensley and use a coupler lock similar to this one:

Keeps the hitch locked to the trailer, about all you can do without taking it off the TT every time you park. Good news is that it's so heavy and awkward that it's very difficult for somebody to just walk off with it.

Another deterrent is to use cotter pins instead of hitch clips to attach the struts, spring bars, etc. After the hitch comes out of the coupler, it has to be disconnected from all the other hardware also to be portable. Honestly the hitch head by itself isn't worth much if you have to buy the strut bars, spring bars, brackets, stinger assembly, and all the rest of the parts to make it usable.
