insurance questions

1. Once I put the camper on the truck and head out on the road, do I need to inform my auto insurance company, i.e. does that change anything for liability/insurance purposes, i.e. would it cause issues if I got into a collision and hadn't told my insurance company about the camper beforehand?

2. How are you all insuring your actual truck campers? It's a high-dollar item (for me, at least), and I would imagine people want them insured.

Many thanks in advance.

TC is a cargo and if you have expensive policy, it automatically covers cargo.
Read what you have, or call your agent.

I would insure it on its own policy then if anything happens when it's off the truck you are covered. Mine got blown over last year in a wind storm insurance covered it, if you do not have separate insurance who would cover it off the truck

Once I get my camper on my truck, I'll give my auto insurance company a call. Many thanks.

Even if you lived in my state, why ask me? Or the others on this forum? Ask your insurance agent! Yes, my actual truck camper was always insured.

When I had mine, I insured it with a complete independent replacement value policy with 500 deductible for about 250 per year.

Ask your carrier. They may insist on a rider or may consider it part of the truck. CYA!
