Jack replacement

Hey,

Pretty out of my element on this one but wondering if anybody has any advice/knowledge on this one.. I was unable to store my TC inside this year and suffered from it. After a huge snow year I just checked on the camper today and found that one of my jacks has collapsed on itself. There is some damage to the flooring but hoping I can get in there and fix it later. My main concern right now it that don't feel comfortable Jerry rigging the jack back together and think I need to replace it. Looked on the jacks to try and find out what brand they were to get something similar but was unable to distinguish anything particular. Hoping somebody knows something and could help me out a bit so the replacement goes as easy as possible. It's an older truck camper a Lance 1993 squire ext. any help would be great thx fam

Teton, AnEv makes extremely helpful points. Now that you know what's kind of going on here, fix that baby, or even see if there's a replacement jack at an RV used parts (dealer, junkyard, etc.) nearby. The weight of these things will kill a good deal on shipping - me thinks.

Also, not sure yet I want to split up my Reico set of four. My HiJacker set of three is another matter all together. And I'm not coming your way anytime soon anyway.

Post some more pictures here for the guys if the fix doesn't make sense, they have some excellent, long-term experience and assistance waiting for you.

I looked at my Reicos yesterday and found mine doesn't have the slot. It's a hole, both sides. If you examine your slot and it appears "manufacturer intended" just re-position the head and tighten it up like AnEv says. If it appears the slot was torn, turn the tube like he says.

If still confused, get more questions and pics posted, they'll guide you right. Ref your PM, I don't have time right now, and when it comes to your particular issue, I'm not the best choice anyway. Good Luck!

What I'm seeing if the HYD itself is okay, simple fixez for both the non-vertical mount and head out of tube.

At some previous point, jack suffered contact, shearing or pulling the lower clamp pin and bending both clamps ears. Jack being non vertical wasnt working-testing luck, putting a lot of stress on camper corner, Lucky hadnt tore free.
If clamps could be had I'd replace, possibly adding 3rd in middle. If not, top one could be easily be straightened. Lower one might take less bending by flipping it. Reinstall locating pins.

The top though needs to be done first. I assume that bolt was supposed to be in what looks like slot, if it was a hole awfully close to edge. But if it was made as slot simple loosen and drive head back on, re-bolt. If the slot was indeed a hole that has broke out- disassemble. Rotate the tube 90° (if mechanics allow) drill new hole(s). Then address clamps.

Or following Camper8251s link then to Parts, new outer tube $82, fix hole, but I didnt see the clamps anywhere- as they are pinned maybe part of tube? Might solve all. I'd contact R/T to find out about clamps

Okay reico got it thx. I had supports under neath it too but the whole camper seemed to shift with the snow. The shifting ended up putting extra pressure on the pictured jack and breaking that top metal piece. The twisting happened with a previous owner I know it's not ideal but it worked... until now. So hopefully with the replacement I will be able to straighten that out also.

I am confused on "my jacks has collapsed on itself". I think you are saying it released the pressure and did not support the TC during storage. I do not think hydraulic jacks are designed to support a TC during storage. You should put supports under the TC for storage. Personally, I would never use a TC supported by the jacks only. I would not consider storing my TC for even a couple of hours on hydraulic jacks only. I trust them only while I'm looking at them.

One of the photos suggest at least one jack is not properly installed. They should be perpendicular to the TC, not on an angle.

I too think they are Reico jacks.

If those are Reico. Contact them, they may be able to help. I had problems with mine which are newer but they went above and beyond to help me.

That looks like the Reico Titans set of four I have and that Reddog posted a pic of. I misunderstood, I thought you had camper damage too, but maybe surface damage from the jack failure, so fixing it may be different than what I expected.

I'd be interested in hearing what the forum says. It may be the jack is fixable, and meant to disassemble. Might save you some money if they chip in on a path to follow. Others?

Although we cannot buy and sale on RV.NET, we can use PMs's for personal business. No harm in that. Fact is, I have 4 Riecos as backups to my Hijacker Camper Jacks.

Yeah reddog, that's the ticket. Teton I have 3 of the HiJackers and 4 Reicos.

He already told me in PM he has hydraulics.

I'm sure we can work out something on the jack itself, although we don't trade in post. The thing is, you do probably DO need to learn how to post pics first.

Once the folks here can see what your words are saying, you will get some quality and quantity advice, help, step-by-step if it came to that. Need the pics first.

I'll just add, in case Teton is late back, the camper isn't right with him, there's a distance (so time) involved.

Lance 1993 probably used Hydraulic jacks. Need photos to be sure.

Hijacker Camper Jacks are no longer available. Rieco-Titan hydraulic camper jacks are a quality substitute.
