Just had a brainstorm - how about a survey!

I just had a brainstorm when reading through the posts here.

So here's my question. We have two groups of folks on these forums: Those who exclusively blow out their water lines when winterizing and those who use the "pink stuff". For purposes of this survey, if you use a combination of blow and pink, you're still using the pink stuff.

Here's my curiosity: Is it because of the pink-stuff (taste, chemicals, or whatever) you do not drink from your own system?

So here's the survey question:

Do you "blow-out" or "pink-up" to winterize. And the second response, when you have de-winterized your system in the spring, do you drink or not drink from your camper?

If you do not drink from your own camper's water system, why?

Let's have fun folks, no jabbing each other, please?

I'll start:

Pink-up and drink. (I'm too old and too cheap to buy bottled water so I drink - but I did buy an in-line water filter this year too)

We've just completed our first good year of camping. I blew out the lines, added pink to the traps, added some to the gray/black tanks and I have never used the fresh water tank. I'll drink whatever comes out of the campground hoses. I do much dumber stuff that is more likely to kill me than drinking campground water!

Next summer we'll be dry camping and I intend on drinking, showering, brushing teeth, gargling and rinsing open wounds from the tank!

No pink stuff or blowing out lines necessary...I store my trailer here. Just drain the water from the system and you're good to go!

Well, today is Sunday November 10. I've waited until now, hoping to get one more response so there would be exactly 100 respondents. But it did not happen. There's only 99, so the percentages are going to be rounded. Once again, thank-you everyone for participating. Again, the results are truly unofficial, based on only those who responded. I'll let the figures speak for themselves and you all can interpret them for yourself. Thanks again everyone! I do think the results are interesting.

Blow and Pink group = 30 of 99 responses = 30.3% of the total
Of the 30:
Drink = 21= 70.0%
Don't Drink = 8 = 26.7%
? Drink = 1 = 3.3%

Blow only group = 19 of 99 responses = 19.2% of the total
Of the 19:
Drink = 9 = 47.4%
Don't Drink = 9 = 47.4%
? Drink = 1 = 5.3%

Neither Blow or Pink group = 8 of 99 responses = 8.1% of the total
Of the 8:
Drink = 3 = 42.9%
Don't Drink = 4 = 57.1%
? Drink = 1 = 12.5%

Pink only group = 42 of 99 responses = 42.4% of the total
Of the 42:
Drink = 24 = 57.1%
Don't Drink = 16 = 38.1%
? Drink = 2 = 4.8%

Here's a few more numbers when combining all 99 together as one group:
Drink: 57 of 99 = 57.6%
Don't Drink: 37 of 99 = 37.4%
? Drink: 5 of 99 = 5.1

Use "pink" somewhere in the process vs those who "blow" exclusively:
Pink or Pink and Blow: 72 of 99 = 72.7%
Blow only: 19 of 99 = 19.2%
Neither blow or Pink = 8 of 99 = 8.1%

You use RV antifreeze to wash stuff with yourr pressure washer and spray it in your Garden ??:h

I realize that it is non toxic but what is the advantage to using it for those purposes. If you just don't want to waste wouldn't it make more sense to save it, add a jug of fresh and reuse it ??

I believe the OP winterizes these items with said antifreeze.

I use to use the pink and bleach the lines in the spring. Then we bought another camper that we leave at the lake and our big one for work and play. So we go up in the winter and other times of the year if its nice we hook up the water and use it for the weekend and blow the lines and drain the water heater. would use to much anti freeze there have never had any problems so started doing both campers that way. Bought a couple of small air compressors at tractor supply for $50 each and in 3 years they have paid for themselves in anti freeze and time messing cleaning every spring.if your worried about oil or other stuff in the line just let the water run for a bit at the first hook up we put bleach in our FW tank anyway every time we use it and the one at the lake has full hook ups. So Blow and drink.
