Well, decided to put up an LED light strip below my awning. For $35....cant beat it!

Here's a YouTube video I made going over it. Goes over most the specifics in the video. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Thanks to recommendations in another thread to use the kit with the RF remote so the IR controller doesn't have to be mounted outside in the weather.

I drilled a hole in my siding under the awning and pushed the power cable into the cabinet above my bathroom sink, and wired it through the ceiling to the bathroom light. Used a dab of silicone to seal the wires through the hole.

I just installed this strip today. http://www.ebay.com/itm/310873626349?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 I am very pleased with the results. I tied into the 12 volt power that supplies the yellow outside light but if you want to power by 120 you will also need a power supply. http://www.ebay.com/itm/310648330534?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I got all my info on these lights from a buddy that uses them on his house to do a Christmas display that is synced to music. I mounted mine about 3" below my awning tube when in closed position so i could use my lights with the awning in the in or out position. Let me know if you have anymore questions about my install.

Thanks Matt

Speedogomer,
Do you have a brand name for the system you bought? It would be helpful to know. Nice job by the way!

The package literally just said "LED Light Strip"

There was no brand name at all. On the back of the package it had "facts about our facility" and listed things like "20000sq ft sorting facility" and "2 automated packing machines".... Had nothing at all indicating a brand.

I like the strip idea because they are LED, but I would rather have party lights just because I think they look better. I just with you could get some nice 12V LED party lights:)

I bought mine from a local retailer, Unicorn Electronics in Johnson City NY. They even have extra remotes, or control boxes you can buy if something stops working. Worst case scenario, they last 1 year, and I spend $35 next year. Only takes 2 minutes to put up if you're not wiring it into the RV.

I may yet drill through my wall and hard wire it... But I haven't even camped in the TT yet, and I can't bring myself to drill through the walls yet! For now I'll just plug it in when I get to the campsite. It's really the same idea as stringing up party lights, only the lights stay up permanently, you just plug them in and they're ready.

I bought the same strip on Amazon but it only lasted one season. The remote quit with the first few months and I found another on eBay direct from China for $3 then the LEDs would not display a certain color. If you cut it to length, make sure you seal the end with silicon. I think moisture destroyed mine.

Looks great. I did the same last summer, but ran the power wire thru a small hole I drilled at the bottom of my outside speaker adapter. Then thru the pantry to a switch on the wall.

I did the same thing with an Amazon set for less then $35, but put mine on the roller part. Easy to install, although per the suggestions of others on here, I did buy a roll of 3m double sided tape and used it instead of/in addition to the tape that came with it. Hardest part of these lights is remembering where I put the remote and the adapter plug from trip to trip. Good Job!
