Leveling Travel Trailer >>>

Good evening---

I have a question regarding leveling your travel trailer when you arrive at your campsite. Do I need to have my slides out before I try leveling my T.T. side to side? Or it does not matter? I hear other people doing it with the slides in, and others do it with the slides out. Is there is a right way and a wrong way?:h

Thank you in advance!!

Though I am not fussy about being exactly level, I do try to get close enough that it is not an issue with doors and such. I have found that “level” often depends on where you measure. I use the frame most of the time.

I am in the group that levels first, then puts the slide out.

Yes-level on the frame.

Putting the slide out blocks access to our water and electric hook ups. I would also worry that moving the trailer with the slide out might damage the slide if a rough spot or jolt is encountered during leveling.

say I check my leveling thru my freezer first then on counter top in kitchen and then by door floor and seem to get best accurate reading for me

X3 - After having the same TT for a few years now I know the level and know exactly where I want the bubble after the "pre-slide" leveling so that it comes out perfect when I extend the slide out.

Exactly what I do. With my trailer, I know that the slide will tilt the trailer a tad to one side when out (and I do mean a tad). This means, pre-slide, my bubble is a little off center, but...when I put slide out it centers perfectly.

Slides will vary by weight, hence- when you go to know your trailer, you'll know where the "pre-slide" bubble needs to be on the leveler.

I level before I pull out the slide. But I do keep in mind that if I am going to have our rig a bit off level left to right, I will make sure the slide side is a bit higher, not lower.

Think on this logically. If the TT is tweaked, say the front right side is down in a hole, and you try to put the slides out, they'd tweak and you'd be in big trouble. LEVEL FIRST. You want the slide to be freed up to freely slide out.

Thats exactly what I do . I also complete my setting up before I lower my stabilizer jacks, this way the TT tires have had a chance to cool down.
