Looking for generator suggestions?

I'm looking at getting a generator for my MyPod and this is what I've come up with at this point in my research.

What I run:

5000 BTU air conditioner (this is a small window unit.) uses 550 watts.
Jensen 12 volt TV uses 28 watts.
Jensen stereo / DVD player uses I can't really find the specs for this so lets say 15 to 20 watts.
Dometic CF 25 refrigerator uses 35 watts
Fantastic vent uses roughly 12 to 15 watts.

Using the higher end of the range = 648 total watts

Ok open for suggestions?

Good to know.

So a 2000 watt generator is 2000 Watts startup and roughly 1700 Watts running?

The air/con controls the discussion.

On startup, it will typically need 2-3times the rated watts, so that puts you into the 2000watt portable generators.

Also, if the battery is low, the converter can demand quite a few watts until the battery gets charged. One option would be to install a switch, let the air/con start and then turn on the converter once the startup load drops off (which is within a second or two).

Thanks ADK Camper! I've been looking at the Hondas.

I have a Honda 2K and can certainly recommend it. It is very quiet, starts every time on the first pull, and is certainly powerful enough for your needs. The Honda 1K might even meet your needs.

A generator is very convenient for keeping your battery charged during an extend dry camp. Running an air conditioner however may be problematical because many campgrounds limit generator use to just a couple of hours once or twice per day.

It does have a converter.

I would think that one of those Champion 2000 watt inverter generators would be plenty. Generally under $500. And they are very quiet.

Looks to me like the only 120v item there is the air. Your converter will suck a bit more..but I don't know if your Mypod has a converter. Get a Honda 2k.

Generator choice is most often a question of money and noise tolerance rather than capacity.
