Mercedes Towing Capabilities

The Mercedes Class B's seem to have very low horsepower. Are they measured the same as US pickup trucks? As far as towing capability, they seem that they couldn't get out of their own way.

Opinions, please?

You pretty much said it yourself.

I still tow with a 200HP diesel 4:10 3/4 ton pickup. On the flats it's great but in the mountains it's an embarrassment. On a medium to big mountain grade I'm at round 30 MPH towing a 7K TT.

BTW I passed one of those Benz motor homes the other day coming up to the race track. He was about 25 to 30 MPH climbing a mountain that I would be about 30 MPH on.

It is what it is.

Drive one to see for yourself! I can only speak for the 6 cylinder, 188 hp diesel, but I hear the same about the 4 cylinder. Acceleration, power, and handling are quite good and I think ours is aerodynamically worse and heavier than the Class Bs. We tow a Chevy Sonic (~2700#s) when we need to and can't even tell its back there from a performance point of view. Ours is so easy to setup & disconnect and maneuver, we usually just take the RV to places while we are camping....even if we towed. Then you have all your stuff with you. In our case, it also makes it easier to take our dachshunds. Given a choice of the Sprinter vs a Ford or Chevy engine and chassis, I'll take the Sprinter every time....and I'm a lifelong GM addict.
