I am looking to purchase my first 5th wheel as i do research some of them say 1/2 TON SHORT BED TOW-ABLE. Does this mean i can use a Ford F-150 or something similar?

I'm with Snowman; I've seen a lot of lies about that. I'd take the trailers GVWR as the weight you'll have, put 15% of that in the bed of the truck as the tongue weight, Add up the weights of all passengers, the weight of a full tank of fuel at 8 lbs per gallon, and make sure that all that "stuff" does not overload the truck all by itself. I think you'll find a lot of "1/2 ton towable" trailers break the bank at that point.

Usually it is an exaggeration by the trailer company. By the time you add cargo and passengers, you're at or over the truck's limits with most of today's "half ton towable" fivers.
Currently RV-less but not done yet.
