New Lance 1172

Well, we finally took the plunge and put a down payment on an 1172. We've been planning to move to a TC for about 5 years, and I'm finally in a place to do it. We'll pick it up in a couple of weeks.

Spent the last year getting the other pieces of the puzzle in place - upgraded my truck to a lightly used 2015 Chevy 3500 DRW diesel, and picked up a Jeep JK with the intention to flat-tow it on longer trips.

Just posting this because I'm super excited and to thank the folks on this forum for answering a lot of questions over the years and for the pictures and stories that cemented the idea of the truck camper as the right RV for our lifestyle.

I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions once we get the 1172 and start the fun. Guess it's time to update my signature, too!

Lol...same type of Jack. I don't know if replacements are any better than original. Time will tell.

Thanks @DOITHARD - that makes sense. I noticed that the front jacks looked a little "splayed" I'll keep an eye on it.

Congrats! I have the same model 2016. Beware the front jacks have issues. The TC is too heavy for Atwood jacks. Jacks tend to spread and gears start skipping while lowering. Issue does not occur while raising TC. Since the TC was under warranty my dealer replaced them no questions asked which tells me that Lance is fully aware of the design flaw issue.

Thanks for the heads up!

Some pics

We are thinking that "Behemoth" is a good name for the camper

Like I said, "tall"

Got the new Lance 1172 home, and it is awesome! It's dang tall (had to trim trees to get it in the driveway). We will have it out to a local state park for a shakedown cruise this coming weekend.

Will post pics once I refresh myself on how to do it!

Congrats on your setup, which is very similar to ours. Flat towing a JK is great as you can park the TC, unhook the Jeep, go scout out a campsite in record time, then return for the "house". Enjoy putting it all together, which to me is half the fun.

Congrats on the 1172. We got ours in May of 2016 and sold our 2012 Eagle Cap 995 - no regrets. You should join the Lance Owners of America group if you want a wealth of info from 1172 (and other Lance models). I have found it extremely useful. Good Luck! And ask away if you have questions.

The two panels I ordered on mine bring my two 6V batteries back very quickly...usually by 9am I'm back to full power from the useage of the night before.

100 watt panel for each of the batteries you have is typically the saying. So if you have to group 27s then 2 100 watt panels should be able to bring them back up to full charge in full sun light, efficiently

Just ordered mine at the Seattle RV show on my birthday. Started RVing in 2002 in a new 1161. Went everywhere in that thing. What a sweet machine. Traded it for a 31' FW TH for a few years. Got divorced in 2012 and bought a 2006 1191. Another sweet machine that goes everywhere. But once I saw the 2017 1172s, it was all over. I go pick it up next Thursday at the dealer. Only a couple of things to add: solar panels and vent covers. I think it has everything else.

For solar panels, 100 watt panels are the way to go, but how many? Never had them before and would like some feedback from those of you who have experience with them. Technology today is pretty solid, but I'm sure there is still some junk out there. Dealer installation is certainly an option.

Thoughts???
