New Ram SWR Tradesmen?

Anyone have any experience with these trucks?

I looked at them today and they seem to really be a bargain in the HD truck world.

I was looking at the Hemi 4x4 crew cab models and the price was around 35-36k

Pretty loaded up for what they were. PW, PDL, Cruise, Rearview camera, CD, 6 passenger seating. HD Vinyl seats (buckets!! Oh yeah!!)

I would love one of these used.. but finding good used HD trucks around here is like finding a golden goose.

#40Fan... are you going with the CTD or the 5.7 Hemi? Sounds like a great truck there! I'd love a manual. I heard they are derated some in the CTD...is that true? If so, how much of a hit is it on power? (It would be worth it to me to get the manual.)

Going with the ST (Tradesman now) is the only way I could get my Ram the way I wanted it. Manual transmission and T-case, rubber floor. The high strength vinyl seats were a plus, but were covered with camo coverings quickly (nice seats, but had to do it). Crew cab, long bed, more power options that I would have liked, out the door for 35.7k.

Try getting a brochure on the MY 2013 Rams. They only exist in Canada according to the Cummins Forum. No link unless your request it, or better yet search for it yourself buddy. They were all joking about the press release last week with predictions like " the 2013 brochure is now available or the hitch adapter is now available". My thoughts are, it was one of the worst debuts I've seen. Thus Fred is gone although he did a fine job with the truck itself, IMO.

Roy I agree shame on the dealer/dealers for not knowing their product. I happen to agree with you that most dealers are a joke when it comes to selling you what YOU want and not what they want to sell you.

Those are the dealers that should be weeded out, because they are not only losing a customer for them but for Chrysler also. But it's not jut Chrysler they all have bad dealers.

Thank you for the report on the seats! I have vinyl floors in my truck now and I love them. The vinyl seats in the Outdoorsman look very comfortable. I may have to look at this line much more closely.

Don, at the time I bought the truck I expected a little better than just a brochure that I could download online. Both Dodge dealers I went to had virtually nothing to look at and drive as far as a work truck goes. The salespeople were very interested in getting me behind the wheel of a fully loaded quad cab diesel, and not really interested at all in getting me what I wanted. The closest dealer that had any kind of commercial sales department was a 45 minute drive away and even they didn't have much in inventory. By contrast, both Ford and GM had dealers in my town with good inventories of work oriented trucks, and always had salespeople who specialized in commercial sales. Since all 3 trucks specced and compared well (although GM was the best)I was willing to consider any of them. In this case it was the marketing of the product that lost Dodge a sale, not the product itself.

Yep. I actually love the vinyl seat and floor. My Ford had leather seats and they weren't as comfortable as my Ram. I don't think I will ever buy another truck with carpet floors. I was very skeptical on the vinyl floor but I can't say enough about it. Open the door and wipe the floor after a trip and its brand new looking again

Just found out that I can get a Cummins in the 13 Ram tradesmen 4x4 crew can for about 39k. Just about 3k more than the Hemi model.

Seats are vinyl but its got power windows, locks, tilt, cruise, back up camera, integrated brake control. Sounds like a no brainier. Now just to drive one.

Wow that's strange, all dealers are required to have a person trained in commercial sales. Some are better then others but worst case they should have been able to get the info you needed. Didn't they have a brochure for the cab and chassis?
