We finally got to use our TC somewhere other than our driveway (LOL!) and had a great time. If you are ever in Western NC, I highly recommend camping at Black Forest Family Camping Resort in Cedar Mtn (just above Brevard) near Dupont State Forest. Dupont is worth seeing - great hiking and bike trails and incredible waterfalls. Black Forest is a great campground too. You just can't go in and look around - they highly value their campers' safety and privacy. Anyway, we got to camp the last two weekends in a row there and had wonderful fall weather one weekend and winter the next, so it was a great test of our TC. We are in the "mod" mode now - funny how you see how things can be better constantly. We REALLY want to join you all for the TC Rally, but the annual church BBQ is a huge deal here. We would love to pick all your brains about your TCs and your experiences and sit around the campfire. We know you're going to have a terrific time and we wish you the best weather ever. Take pictures and post them for the rest of us.

I have what may seem to be a silly/odd favor to ask of the rally attendees.
My best friend's fiance was diagnosed with cancer in February. They wanted to camp etc. so he bought a small toy hauler to use for his bucket list ... which included a fall trip to the Smokies. When it seemed the end was near, he gave her the camper and truck. Things turned bad quickly and they were not able to make the trip. He died this past Saturday.
She knows all the ends and outs of the camper, but he never let her drive. I proposed to her that she and I take a trip to the Smokies in his honor and I will teach her to tow a trailer. I wanted to attend the TC Rally anyway and thought maybe we could combine. My husband will not be able to come.
I just wanted to see if we show up and run into something we can't handle if we could call on any of you seasoned campers to lend a hand. I don't anticipate that happening, but I would feel better knowing we had a friendly safety net. I want to make this trip special for her and just trying to smooth the way. Neither of us are the helpless type and I don't forsee any problems. Can we join the fun without being in a TC??? Anyone attending that could give us advice on what to see in the area?
'preciate it!
