Well,

Had enough of paying monthly payments and wanted something I could own out right. Ended up finding a pretty clean 2001 Ford Excursion Limited V10, 3.73 gearing and pulled the trigger! This will be a mix of daily driver / family hauler for about a year then i'll pick up another car for commuting and start having fun with the Excursion.

Congrats on a very nice looking truck! Like any vehicle, take care of it, lots of fresh fluids, frequently, as budget and logic dictate. Have fun putting on some "goodies" - makes the I OWN this feeling even happier!

Cheers!

They are great vehicles! I wish they still made them. First thing you need to do is call Mike at 5 Star Tuning. He really knows how to wake the V10 up.

Thanks,

Yeah I have been reading up a bit on these. Plus we use them in fleet trucks at work and they go 300k miles no problem if maintained. I'm hoping I can get 200+k miles before I have to drop a tranny or engine ๐Ÿ™‚

Well, I love a story with a happy ending then.

There is a forum member from Bismarck, North Dakota who also runs an Excursion, think it is similar year and a V-10. He had motor troubles, lost oil pressure.

I recall a long thread about this, perhaps a search here will bring more information your direction.

Nice looking rig.

Always liked the Excursions. Managed to have one as an assigned vehicle when working years back, and thought it was a very good vehicle.

Nice thing with paid for is now you can modify or add goodies (grill guards and other items) to your heart's content. Or when the wife's not looking, whichever comes first. :B

Funny thing is I asked her when buying it about the "what if the engine and tranny go out?". Her response was just buy a new crate one and slap it in cause we are not getting rid of it!

She is also on board to do some modifications once her car is paid for. Next year is going to be a good one for me!
