Good afternoon, guys and gals. First post and new to RVing. Recently purchased a Rockwood 2504s and we LOVE IT. We had a 19 ft. Forest River with no slide and it proved to be too small.

Just got back from Garner State Park. A great family trip with a few friends.

We are learning a lot and working out the kinks (door is hard to close at times). Leveling it seems to be our biggest issue.

Outside speakers seem a bit weak too, but it may be a setting.

I also just purchased a weight distribution hitch for my 1500 Ram.

Regardless, thank you for having me. Looking forward to learning a lot.

Your problem with the door being hard to shut sometimes could be caused by your leveling. Follow the instructions others have given and DO NOT use the stabilizer jacks to help level the trailer. You can get the trailer frame just twisted enough to make the door hard to close. Don't ask me how I discovered this. :B BTW, welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the family! FYI...sound systems/audio/video in most Rvs are lower-end. You can always upgrade those to get a better sound quality.

How level is level is often a problem for the new comer. It depends on where you measure and who is determining what is level.

My frame, floor, slide and table all give slightly different readings of what is level. I finally mounted a pair of levels parallel to the aluminum siding and that was that.

The last camp sight I was on was crowned gravel, I took two 2x10 under the low side wheel to get level side to side. Usually a single 2x10 under the low side wheels are more than enough.

You can get some leveling with the stabilizer jacks but not very much because they are not weight bearing structures. You can also torque the frame if you get too aggressive with the stabilizer jacks; then doors stick and other such things until you back them off.

Outside speakers should not be heard beyond your campsite.

Garner State Park? "The" Garner State Park? You're kind of in my neck of the woods. We'll eventually run into each other and we'll just have to have cold one!

Congrats on the new camper and welcome to the forums.

x2 what Biscuit said about the speakers. No doubt you love whatever you're listening to, but it might not be your neighbors' cuppa tea. Speakers that don't go very loud are a feature, not a bug.

Welcome!

Congrats.........go camping as much as you possibly can go.

Leveling.

Places boards/leveling blocks etc under low side of trailer tires
Then unhitch and using tongue jack level front to back
THEN set stabilizers...snug. They are not for leveling....just stabilizing the trailer

Outside speakers.

They are for listening at the camp site...not for the neighbors to hear :B

WDH.

Good decision. Weight Distribution Hitch is great towing tool.
The 1500's towing capability will be enhanced using it.

Suggestion.

Load up truck/trailer for camping (passengers, stuff etc)
GO to a weight scale (Just Goggle CAT Scale for one)
Get weighed---costs $10/weigh with free reweigh
Truck/trailer combo with WDH
Truck/Trailer combo w/o WDH bars hooked up
Truck (all passengers)

The 3 weight tickets will give you all the numbers needed to figure weights (totals/tongue etc.) and how your WDH is set up
Is it time for your medication or mine?
