New vent fan??

Currently in my TT I have one of those 3-4" fans in the vent in my bathroom. I would like to upgrade it to a full sized fantastic fan or create a breeze style vent. Do they make one of those that I can insert into the vent that is currently there so I don't have to replace all the vent set up on the roof and have to re-seal it? If so could you provide me some links to sites that offer what I am looking for? Thanks.

Tried different fuses and still no go so I just put the fan up as is out of the box without the PWM and it works great so there is the problem. I'm going to replace it with a Fantastic Vent next Spring anyway so this will work fine for now.

Thank you guys for the assistance. I always learn a lot from this forum.

I don't either. It tested fine repeatedly with the wall wart.

The fan does turn freely by hand. I will try the 10 amp fuse and check the wiring. I thought black was always positive in a TT but that is not always the case?

Thanks for the tips. I will let you know what happens.

It doesn't matter which way you connect the wires. Reversing the colors just reverses the fan direction.

Black is supposed to be (+) that doesn't mean yours is wired correctly...never assume anything when working on a TT....LOL....

It worked OK when you bench tested it with the wall wart, so the issue may be in the installation. Use a test light or meter to confirm which wire coming out of the ceiling is (+). Replace the fuse and try again.

Any thoughts? I don't mean to be pushy, just need to get this fixed before Saturday. 8-)

Does the fan spin freely when turned by hand?
Reconnect the fan direct using a 10 amp fuse. If all is well, the PWM may not be rated high enough or is faulty.

I have the single stage Heng's fan in our bathroom and what a differance. Price is right install was 1/2 hour and works great.

Some find it a bit loud but in the bathroom I think a little noise is ok.

I have the same fan. Consider a speed control of some sort, other wise be sure that small children and pets are well anchored before turning the fan on....it moves some air. Adding a PWM motor control is next on my list....

Any ideas about my fuse problem?

I have the following 12V-40V 10A PWM DC Motor Speed Controller w/ Knob for my Vortex bathroom fan. Would someone please detail (assume I know nothing which would be correct!) how to install this? Thanks!

Speed Control

I just tried installing the modified fan. it ran for just a few seconds and then the fuse on the controller blew. Is it just a matter of getting a bigger fuse? The one that blew has F10L250V stamped on it.

Got mine installed Friday morning before heading out for a Halloween event at a localish RV Resort. Here is a pic of how I wired it up. I also converted the single gang switch to a double. Originally the light and the fan were on one.

It works great. But twice now something has shut down that circuit, and I think there is something wrong with my 12v system. I can't imagine the light and the fan are pulling more than the 10amps on that circuit, but twice now that circuit quits working. It doesn't burn the fuse, but removing it from the block and reinserting turns it back on. The fuse indicator light in my panel doesn't work either, nor do many of the other ones on the board, and the board is very loose in the housing... Sounds like I may have discovered problems with the panel in this new to me trailer.
