Pantry closet or Wardrobe closet? Modifications made!

Good morning,

Like most I struggled with how to make my so called wardrobe closet more functional. The fact that it's beside the stove didn't make much sense seeing as I needed pantry space more than hanging clothes space. I searched here and on Google for options. I am not much of a finish carpenter so some of the nice shelving and drawer units that I've seen some of you do weren't my best option. The other issue is the door opening width is 9 inches and the cabinet inside is 15 inches and I didn't want to waste any space. For the past month I used one of the plastic 3 drawer units I found at Walmart. Functionally better but not what I would call efficient over all. This is what I settled on:

I bought 2 of these:

My cabinet is 24 inches deep x 15 inches wide x 46 inches tall. These units are coated wire shelves that are 25" tall x 19" wide x 4" deep. I screwed 1 to each side of the pantry which gave me 6 inches in front of them and 5 inches open down the middle. I also bought a 16 inch wide x 6 feet long wire coated shelf. I zip tied 2 pieces in, 1 on the bottom shelf and 1 on the 3rd shelf up with the lip turned up to keep things from spilling. This arrangement gives me space to reach in back and to store tall boxes. My silver ware is on the bottom in front and my frying pan and cover is on bottom behind those. I am very happy with this and it cost me $55- and took maybe an hour all told.

Great job...

I found some of the put together wood shelf kits called CLOSETMAIDS from LOWES... They turned out pretty good in the 5th wheel big closets for adding multiple shelves to stick things in. I used the same CLOSETMAIDs SHELVES for my OFF-ROAD POPUP cabinet to stack things on as well. Added a back to them using the peg board. In the popup this all has to move to the floor when packing up and lowering the roof down.

You have to buy extras ones if you to add the bottom shelf. They wasn't all that expensive kits to buy...

Turned out great to store things on... And they look nice...

These are great to use in the home computer desk setups as well... You can cut them down to a small shelf under a printer for storing paper etc.. and just use as is storing office things in the back of the computer desk setup. Did same thing in Radio Console Desk setup at the house for setting my various radio components on...

Nice idea. I have been wanting to do this for years but my wife won't let. Don't know why? She don't cook!
