planning the next Southeast TC Gathering

It's time to start planning the next gathering of truck camper enthusiasts here in the southeast! I'm thinking sometime in March or April. But where? We've been to Smoky Bear CG near Gatlinburg twice and they were excellent hosts. Do we want to return there or does anyone have any suggestions on another place to meet? Desirable features are a central location, reservable sites, an inside or at least covered area to meet, and nearby points of interest. I checked a year or two ago on Monte Sano State Park near Huntsville, AL. Seemed like a nice campground with a pavilion in the camping area but I've never been there. Maybe a good excuse for a weekend trip for me and the DH :B

So good to hear from you again Phyllis! Bless you for organizing another rally. FYI, there are usually 2 other truck camper rallies in April. One is in TX and the other is in Sanford VA (Midatlantic truck camper rally). Looking forward to seeing all the friends we made in Gatlinburg. You did a great job both times being the wagon master. Just say when and where!

There are two campground areas. We were in the West Campground. The other one has a large "Group Shelter" capable of seating 175 people. There are complete cooking facilities inside available to guests.

Out only 'fly in the ointment' is, my wife and I are going to Maine next year to visit with friends (and fellow TC'ers) but exactly when is up on the air. My wife wants to go to Saratoga Springs and Corning Glass and I want to visit Savage Arms in Ithica New York. Always wanted to go there, I'm a big Savage rifle person.

It's nice to hear from some of the previous attendees and some new folks too! The scenery at Cloudland Canyon is definitely enticing. Nice video Yoly. I don't see any pavilion near the campground though while March and April can be rainy. Keep up with the options. I've got a little more time before I need to choose.

We would be interested in this gathering as well. Supposed to get our new Host Cascade in late November. We just sold a Artic fox 992. Live in Mississippi and this would fairly close to us. Keep us posted Eddie

We would love to do the CA get together (and tour CA) ... problem is we still work and that is just too much time off to swing it right now. The AL, NC, TN GA area may be doable for us depending on timing, work logistics etc. We'll keep watching this thread.

We're looking forward to it. Glad you are thinking sometime in the spring. We are about "travelled out" after 4 trips this year, all of which were lots of miles.

We're also ready, Phyllis. You just tell us when and where and we're gone. We didn't get a chance to do much of anything this year except for a lot of home improvements so we're wanting to make up for lost time by travelling next year. Keep me posted.

Merrykalia - I do like the looks of the facilities at Panther Creek SP. Thank you for suggesting it and will put it on the list of possible sites. We've been in TN twice now though so hoping someone will chime in with info on a good place in W NC, N GA, or N AL.

I hope we are around so we can attend. Just returned from Houston where we were able to put out over 40,000 meals to volunteers and those impacted by the flood and I am beat.Had to come home and rest.The nice thing about East Tenn is cool nights and pleasant days in March and April.

We are TC newbies, having just completed our first trip. We would be interested to meet some folks like us who have a TC down here in the southeast, and location would not be critical to us, but if not the week of April 1 we'd probably be out as we have a high schooler and wouldn't be able to get away.
