Rear View Cameras for camper

I wanted a rear-view camera for my TC. When shopping, all I saw were Back-up camera systems, only operative when in reverse.

I found a company in China,

http://www.veise.com/en/products/

and took a chance.

I had to use Western Union to send money. For about $300 I got one camera and two monitors (I wanted to be able to see out the back of the camper while inside, at night).

Camera has infrared night vision, and it works really well. Camera is wired directly to campers house batts, and I disconnect it when not in use, or it will drain it. Monitors connect to the DC/cigarette lighter connectors on the dash, or in the camper. Camera and monitors connect to each other wirelessly, no wiring required between the two.

I know some of you with better electrical skills would come up with better wiring of the camera & monitor on the camper, so as not to have to disconnect. I'm just enough electrician to know I'm not an electrician... so I took the simplest route.

Anyway, it works good, and should work on a trailer etc.

Soon as I figure out how to do pictures in this program, I will attach.

Thanks all, I think I'm going to add a rocker switch between the camera and the house batteries, and I should be good!

(I think even "I" can manage that!)

A most excellent deal for a wired backup camera can be gotten from leviathan_holdings on Ebay.
The owner is very responsive to questions and said that continuous operation is fine - simply wire the reverse signal wire to a steady power source. In my case, I wired it to an up-fitter switch for on/off operation.
I bought the wired 5" monitor and camera.
And have 82-hours on the system so far.
the one i bought
I found this system through a referral on a full-timer's website.

When tying into constant hot or always powered wiring an illuminated rocker switch placed in the power cord and power source line will prevent battery drain caused by the transmitter constantly trying to send to the unplugged receiver. Been there, done that. Also, a tech advisor with lots experience with wireless backup cameras told me to go directly to the house battery for consistent uninterrupted power to prevent repeated power on off of transmitter as they can be extremely sensitive to fluctuations causing repeated connecting/disconnecting and random backup view. Been there done that too. Just my recent personal experience.

Wireless Backup Cameras, most work like this.

The receiver/display is usually always on (when plugged in to the cigar lighter)and receive all signals in a frequency (that's why they show other views occasionally if another car is close by).

The camera end consists of a camera and a transmitter. These are usually connected to the hot wire going to the backup lights. Therefore only transmitting when the light is on. To make this type work full-time you need to find a wire that has power on full-time, like the one powering the radio. Then run this wire to the camera/transmitter.

Hope this helps.

How it looks on the dashboard. When I have my Garmin & a few other things up there too, it starts looking like the ****pit of a 747!

"Works only in reverse" that depends on what power you hook it up to. I suggest you hook it up to an ignition on power.

Ive been using the Veise wireless system for over 5 years now and it still works great. Bought it off of Ebay. My camera is mounted high and centered on the TC, and wired into one of the rear marker lights. When I turn the parking or headlights on the camera is on. If its during the day and I need the camera on, I will just flip on the parking lights. When the truck lights are off the camera is off. Veise seems to make a decent product.
