Repairing heavy surface oxidization

Hi There

My 2003 Jayco Kiwi Too has extensive exterior shell oxidization due to having been in outdoor storage without maintenance for the last 5 years. The trailer is still 100% except for the exterior condition. I’d appreciate any advice on how to approach this myself and/or and recommendations re RV restoration shops in Southern California.

You'll need to break out some compound and a polisher. No free lunches getting rid of oxidation. Brand of compound and polish is not as important as the truce of cut and type of pad and using a rotary buffer will get the job done the most efficiently.

3M perfect-it gelcoat cutting compound. expensive but it works great.

I recommend Meguiares as well - Marine RV One Step Compound 67. Used it on our FW and it came out super shiny.

You may be able to bring it back with a good cleaner wax. I use MeQuires. IF that don't do it, and it is fiberglass.

The best way is to water sand it with no less than 400 grit water paper. 600 grit will make it look better, just takes longer. Once done. Buff it out with a light compound and wax it.

Lot of work? Yes it is. When I was the "Boat Doctor" At Dixie Boat. I had to do it on a 21 FT. Not only the deck, but the hull as well. It looked pretty much like new when I got done with it. Had to do others as well. But I was really proud of that one.
