Replace OEM fuel tank?

I've got a 2018 RAM diesel, dually, crew cab, long bed. It is also blessed with a 32 gallon fuel tank.
Has anyone replaced that tank with a larger one? I'm looking at Titan and S&B brands. The S&B is 60 gallons so I'm leaning that direction.
Only issue is the Torklift mounted on the front drivers side. It looks like it could be a tight fit up against the tank.
Has anyone done this swap with Torklifts?
Thanks in advance...

When doing a lot of driving I like to stop at least every 4 hours....that is barely a half tank of diesel for my 2018 Ram. I have never had an issue with the tank size. For a break after driving 4 hours, I like to stop for a while so the time spent refueling is not a concern. I typically refuel, use the restroom, spend a few minutes in the camper checking emails, planning routes, and just plain taking it easy. I often take a short nap.

After a decent rest, I am ready for another 4 hours. In the Summer when the days are long, I often do a couple of rest stops and feel relaxed and can easily handle 10-12 hours of driving. If I try to avoid or shorten my rest breaks, I feel beat up with only about 8 hours of driving.

Four hours on half a tank?
What size tank do you have?

Lol. Was thinking the same thing
Although this could be coupled with the “fuel gauges are nearly useless “ thread! Hahaha

Think there might be a reason for that? Check out what material the replacement tank you are looking at is made of before you decide.

I suggest you contact "Transfer Flow" in Chico Calif. and talk to them about replacement diesel fuel tanks. Great company and quality work. They have many choices of tanks. I have bought 3 different tanks from Transfer Fuel on different tanks and they have worked great. They can install a new tank in 1 day.

It would take me at least 3 days to drive there, then 3 days back.
I think I can install the tank on a Saturday afternoon. If not, pay a truck accessory shop to install it.

Transfer Flow will ship the tank of your choice to your truck accessory shop.

So let's say you save $0.30/gal on the extra 30gal of fuel you can now carry (yes, you can find stray situations where it's higher but more often than not it will be less). That's $9 per fill up.

When you cross the border from California into Oregon, the diesel price drop is typically $1/gallon, often more. The main reason is taxes, but also zip code pricing. For example all the way up I5 in N CA, cheapest I could find last trip was about $4.40, just into Oregon even the name brand stations were $3.00.

Sometimes it's not about money or hitting the can. If the TC is on you have your own bathroom. I paid for the dual tanks on my Ram 5500 and I love them. 74 gallons total. I can bypass more expensive fuel or just not fill up if I don't want to. Maybe I just want to park eat something and go to sleep. I will fill up sometime tomorrow . Sometimes convenance is MORE important than money.

I go back and forth between Titan and S&B.
We did Martinsville and Richmond last spring. Then the Knoxville Nationals in August and the Kansas fall race.
I skipped the Chili Bowl, too jam packed indoors.
Doing Martinsville and Richmond one more time. Maybe the Darlington September race. Knoxville again if I can get a RV spot.
You doing Richmond?

YUP, you have to swing on by Turn 3 if your there. My daughter and son in law just booked Martinsville.... I DVR'd the Chili Bowl mains.. had stuff going on. will watch tonight

I just figure I need to pee or stretch my legs every few hundred miles. Why not do that while filling up?

Some areas or states have much higher fuel costs. If you can drive through those areas rather than fuel up there, your flexibility stills allows you to make stops for other reasons.

So let's say you save $0.30/gal on the extra 30gal of fuel you can now carry (yes, you can find stray situations where it's higher but more often than not it will be less). That's $9 per fill up.

Let's assume you get 10mpg towing, so 60gal is 600 miles (if you run down to fumes)

At $9 per 600miles, I looked online and the tank without installation is about $1400. Let's say you do the installation yourself and there are no additional parts or modifications needed. That's going to take about 100,000 miles to break even.

Of course, unless you happen to frequent destinations that have big price differences, most of the time, you will probably be more like $0.05-0.10/gal difference and you are going to be looking at 300-500k miles to get enough cost savings to pay for it.

Also for most people they are likely going to pay for professional installation...so what another $500 in up front cost.

Then if you look at high vs low prices...they tend to group together. (West coast expensive, south central cheap, upper midwest mid-price)...so it's not as simple as buy in a cheap state, pass thru an expensive state and then fuel up in the next cheap state.

Now if you get an inexpensive in bed tank ($300-500), fuel savings paying for it may work out but now it comes at the expense of the bed space used up.

On my previous truck 04' Ford F250 I replaced the stock fuel tank with the Titan 60g model. Took me an afternoon and did it myself. I also had Torklift Frame mount tie downs on it too. A little tight on fitting everything in but at the end of the day everything was done. I presently have a 2019 F350 and it has a 48g stock tank and not worth the effort for me to gain 12g. I had the Titan tank for probably 8+ years and went with the truck when I sold it back in 2020.

I left this part out. Having a 30-50 mile refill window in my pig SUCKS. Which is why I'm about to double my capacity with some in bed aux "transfer tanks".

30-50 miles?
I can't do a in bed tank with the cabover camper.
