Some maps show interstate 66 contnect form Washington DC over to interstate 81.
Google maps does not show this. Is there a interstate 66 or not?

Must be a cockpit problem as my Google Maps shows I 66 DC to I 81.

RT66 is Northern AZ near Flagstaff AZ. I40 follows it there...

It most certainly exists and has been there for decades.

My google maps does show I-66 from west DC to I-81.

Yep, and it ends pretty much at the Santa Monica pier in CA.

And it crosses itself about 20 miles from here in Albuquerque!

True. The famous RT66 starts/ends at Adams and Wabash in Chicago.

We took the old Route 66 when it was still intact back in 1969. If I remember right, we picked it up around Oklahoma City going WEst. Much of it is now in disrepair. We had a 1957 Chevy with no air conditioning and a flax water bag hanging in front of the radiator. We travelled the desert at night. The old motels and road houses were still up and running. A great American Road.
