See Level Tank Monitor in AF990 or 996?

I'm about to order a See Level II model 709 holding tank monitoring system as I've had enough of the "idiot" light issues of the OEM unit. Anyone here installed one in their AF990 or 996? I've read where existing tank sensor wiring can be utilized, but I haven't been able to locate the grey tank wiring so far. Space is very tight to apply the sensor strips for both the fresh and grey tanks so looking for any tips from someone who has already tackled this project. Thanks in advance for any advise.

It is on the forward kitchen slide wall, above and to the right of the sink. Any additional wiring would need to move with the slideout, not an issue, just something to consider if unable to use OEM wiring, which appears to be the case for the grey tank.

If you can access the tanks it may be easier to simply abandon the existing system in place and just stick the new sensors onto the tanks.

Correct. As Joe and another source have told me, the OEM grey tank wiring is inaccessible without removing the belly panel. I'll investigate the possibility of adding a new set of wires for the grey tank rather than dropping the belly panel, which will have to move with the kitchen slide. It may be all for naught as room in front of the fresh & grey tanks is very limited which may prevent accurate placement of the adhesive strip sensors.
I'm hoping someone has already done this on a 996 (hopefully without removing the belly panel) but I may end up breaking new ground here.....

In my 811, I can see both the black tank and the gray tank through to rear door that gives me access to the dump valves. I think on a 990/996, the access door is on the side of the camper, which must inhibit access/visibility to the gray tank.

No, because you re-use the wires of the OEM monitor and sensors for the See-Level monitor.
I guess you "could" run both, but it's going to be pretty impossible to run the wires through the basement and up the wall, due to "inaccessibility".

I installed a See-Level in my 811 and love it. The tanks are such that you can access all three locations where the wiring connects to the tanks.

They are awesome monitors, but you need to check the camper and see if there's access to the existing wires at the tank, so you can cut them and install to the See Level sending units.

On my '05 990, the grey tank is narrow and long and on the left side. Runs from the front to the start of the rear overhang. Probably more than 7 feet long. The sensor wires are located all the way forward on the front end of the tank.

I have the dimensions somewhere but yours has a sliding tray so will be different.

I think you'll need to remove the bottom cover to get easy access. It's not that difficult, but you'll be on your back and have to dig out the sealer on the screws.

It will give you good insight into how everything is put together. I found one of the tank support frame screws running through the wire from the generator to the transfer switch, some broken screws, and some cracked support frames. Luckily it wasn't shorting the AC power. (The TC was used when I bought it so not sure how it got that way) I repaired everything and added insulation. Then resealed the bottom cover and screws with flexseal.

You may want to add some extra insulation when you have it off. I added one cross member also, to help support the bottom center of the fresh water tank. The black and grey tanks didn't need more support.
