Small A/C

I may be looking for something that doesn’t exist. I want a small, 5000 btu or less, roof mount ac. All I want to do is cool the bedroom. I want one that a 2000w generator will power.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I assume a 9200 would run off a 2000 generator in most conditions.

Truck a/c!
Domestic makes a 1200W unit that runs off of 24v dc. It even has a remote, so it’s fun too! I’m waiting on a response from them to see what they think. Hopefully it will cool without the vehicle moving.

That sounds like a awesome idea - very creative! If you don't mind post a link to the unit you are considering?

It takes up a good chunk of floor space: I have a 7,000BTU (EDIT: 8500BTU) portable AC that stands on wheels and vents out through a window with a hose. My 2000w Inverter generator can run it, but, can NOT start it up when it is in ECO mode.

I think you can get those in smaller BTU models that a 2000w would run and start in ECO mode... I use mine at the storage lot on hot days along with my gen if I need to do work inside and it is perfect for my need. It would work if I were boondocking and willing to run my generator with eco mode turned off. But - It takes up a fair amount of room as stated.

EDIT 2: If I read your reply to Charlie right this solution might work if you were willing to give up the floor space and make a more secure way for it to vent to the outside. A buddy of mine used plexiglass with a hole cut in it for the hose because the supplied window adapter would not securely fit in the window he wanted to use.

Thanks Charlie. Yes I have a window I can stick it in but I was hoping to be able to use the gen so I can run it ahead of stopping for the day. The bed gets so hot it takes forever to cool it down.

Is there some way you could use a window unit in the bedroom ?

I had a TT once that I had to use one of them in.

I added a cargo door to the side of the TT and a shelf underneath of it.

When going down the road the AC would set in the shelf inside the TT with the cargo door closed.

When at the campground I would open the cargo door and set the window unit into it.

Plug it in and I was good to go.

Nope. About the smallest roof mount A/C is ~ 9000 BTU.
