Now this is the way the testing should be done. TFL Super Ike Going to test trucks with the max load that the manufactures are claiming. Looking forward to see the results of this one.

I like the test, except I would like to see them add more frontal area, up to the max specified by the MFG. Frontal area can hurt performance as much as, and sometimes more than, max towing weight.

Totally agree. I've never been able to understand the purpose of "Who can get to the top fastest" testing. I can see braking and handling or MPG, but the only people I see towing like they're in a race to the top are idiots.

You need to look at the tests again on TFLT. They are trying to keep the trucks at the posted speed limit up the mountain, not the fastest. The reason they time them is because some trucks can't maintain the speed limit with the load, so it lets someone know how far off the speed limit the truck is compared to the trucks that can maintain the posted speed.

And then award the gold hitch award to one of the slowest trucks they ever tested with one of the lowest tow ratings of any truck. Sad.
And don't tell me it was the mileage, as the mileage of any other truck would have improved substantially going 45 mph most of the way. They lost all cred on that one.

Ford will finally follow that same J standard for 2017. It has nothing to do with how fast you climb the hill, there is a minimum speed but one important part is ability to accelerate forward and backward up a certain grade without any type of overheating or failure.

GM can go fast up a hill but they can't do the same test mentioned above with as much load as the RAM without some type of problem.

It's all about durability to perform tasks over and over at weights without failure.

Agreed.
Since some of the trucks have already been tested at close to their max ratings, we have a pretty good idea how they will fare. The one truck with a huge number has never been tested at any where near that number.(by a publication) So it is a safe bet that it will do much worse than it has in the previous tests.
