Tenting separating from frame

I've got a 2008 Jayco 26L - the tenting on the front is starting to separate from the frame at the bottom on one side. It looks like a semi-transparent plastic strip has ripped. This strip is screwed into the frame at intervals, and I assume the tenting hooks into this. I want to replace the plastic strip all the way around - is this something that is more or less standard (i.e. I could procure a length at any RV store) or is this something I need to get from Jayco?
I'm assuming that the rip is the result of replacing the door a few years ago (Jayco replaced it n/c off warranty due to a leak), and the cable lengths were slightly off, thus putting more pressure on the bottom of the fabric. I've since moved the cables to the highest bolt hole, relieving the pressure.
That's the other question, is there any way to adjust the cable length, the bottom of the cable is attached inside the door, not easily accessible.

We just replaced our "J-Lock" on our 2004 Cub. Had a time finding the J-Lock. I contacted Lippert Components Inc 2703 County Road 36, Goshen, IN (574) 971-4100 They gave me a the phone number of:

that carries the J-Lock. I removed the tent and took it to a upholstery shop and they replaced the old J-Lock on the tent and I installed it back on the camper.

They may be able to help you if the manufacture is unable to. My manufacture was unable to help with the J-Lock and I went to Topstitch.

I just bought a used 2006 Kodiak Scamper 214 hybrid that had the same problem. There seems to be a design flaw with the tenting sewn into the plastic J-strip. It creates a serration in the plastic that tears when there is to much pressure applied. I just loosened the metal border in the area of the separation, tucked the tent hem in behind the remaining plastic, and drilled thru into the frame. I fastened with #8 screws with washers. Be sure to secure thru the reinforced tent hem. This is a low cost repair and seems very secure. Save yourself some money. Hope this helps

Ok, thanks, that may be smething that I can do once the camping season is done. I didn't think it would be that big a chore!

you should be able to order the plastic strip from Jayco and have a canvas/upholstery shop sew the new one to the canvas.

You've got to be kidding me, you need to replace the tenting? I would have thought you just snap the tenting into the plastic strip! I really don't want to do that, my tenting is pretty pristine otherwise.

Had the same thing happen on our old Kodiak. If I recall they call that plastic piece the J-channel. And unless things have changed you will not be able to replace just the J-channel. We had to buy the new tent end. You can cut down on the cost some by replacing it yourself. Just make sure your drill is charged as they sure put a lot of screws around those frames.
